Do you do any editing/Do you make films?
 

I just finally installed Vegas 5 on my computer after it sitting there for over a year roundabouts. Done some filming yesterday for an assignment, interviewing a bunch of people on the street for colour phychology. Anyway, as frustrating as it is adapting to a new program, it's mighty fun.

So, do you?

My dad is a country singer. A little tongue-in-cheek. One day we decided to make a cheesy music video for one of his songs. So I shot and edited this:

Last summer I worked for my dad's friend. He has his own company where he films graduations, symposiums, and other shit. I helped him film a Life Medicine Symposium which was actually more interesting than I thought it'd be. I also helped him edit a graduation that he filmed. It was fun.

I studied film at university but once I got out in the field professionally doing location recording I found it incredibly boring, it would be ok if you were into lighting but the sound side on location sucks balls.

Well, I certainly HAVE.. Vegas is cool.. you can add fake scratches to the film stock and shit.

I remember doing filming/directing/cinematography back when and sitting in on editing but I never edited myself. I would have learned if it wasn'r for the fact that my friend/editer was fucking awesome at it.

yes. have a panny camera & avid. making a bit of $ with it. not like the friend of alex's dad, and i hope it doesn't go that way-- interviews: yes-- weddings:please fucking no. some little movies also but nothing i want to discuss in this cesspool. this place is for my mr. hyde.

ps- pbradley if you're a journalist you'll have to learn sooner of later. keep an eye on the major papers to see where things are going. i can't help sounding like a fucken cheeseball but "it's the new writing".

yes i studied film and video production at university and have done quite a bit of it both for myself and in various jobs. i used avid and in the old days premiere. i do remember having some old clunky manual thing when i first started that was actually really great but by todays standards is laughable.

i have made quite a few films and things over the years. i mainly do installations and video pieces which i enjoy quite a lot. i was amazed when i got some exhibited in galleries etc.
