Frostrup's like the Jordan for readers of Penguin Modern Classics. I have a friend that tapes The Book Show and makes these strange and very quiet involuntary croaking sounds, like he's choking on a small feather, whenever he hears her voice. He also reads a lot of Ian McEwan novels and models his look on Martin Amis circa 1985. I do like Frostrup myself, but let's face it, she's no Laverne.

You wait ages for a demonrail post (or like me, wait patiently by the laptop, flask in hand, waiting for any signs of demon life), and then here he is, posting about Lauren Laverne.

Oh, this is great. A Frostrup v Laverne war could turn into a kind of Mods v Rockers thing for humus eating thirty-somethings. We could even arrange an annual bank holiday excursion to Brighton where we could throw Kazuo Ishiguro novels at one another. It'd be like Quadraphenia with brown corduroy trousers.

Don't get me wrong, I love Lauren and would sell my soul to have both lovely ladies lick me all over.

Although I always prefered Marie du Santiago over Lauren (Marie > Lauren, if you will).
