Pookie 08.10.2007 04:10 PM

Too late!

Unless you think Anthony Wilson is somebody else.

Toilet & Bowels 08.10.2007 07:41 PM

i won't be losing any sleep over this... although now i feel guilty about being scornful, so maybe i will lose some sleep.

demonrail666 08.11.2007 05:27 AM

Not an easy person to like, but an easy one to admire. RIP.

Glice 08.11.2007 09:27 AM

Who'll never shut up about Shaun Ryder being the best poet since Yeats now?
He says inappropriately. Liked his work, didn't like his punditry. Still, shame.

MellySingsDoom 08.11.2007 10:21 AM

Bye bye AH Wilson. RIP.

jon boy 08.11.2007 11:02 AM

true he was not easy to like but still he did do some pretty good things and you have to admire his passion/determination etc.

Danny Himself 08.11.2007 04:25 PM

He was a complete dickhead. Good riddance.

He was brilliant. Not perfect, but in so many ways a good example of the spirit in which life should be lived. His big mistake was probably to trust other people to have the same passion and decency that he had.

Anthony Wilson was super-cool.

Danny Himself 08.11.2007 05:17 PM

"Fucking twat", "stupid fuck".

I highly doubt it. Besides unleashing unmitigated shite such as The Happy Mondays upon the innocent ears of the world, this man never passed up the chance to stab an insult at Liverpool, its people, and it's music scene. A couple of people in my family have met him before- when my father himself asked the man for an autograph on the set of Letter To Breshnev he told him to 'piss off'.

So I believe it is he who is a fucking twat.

k-krack 08.11.2007 06:15 PM

From Danny's description, he was a douchebag. Joy Division were one of the best of all-time, but aside from that, I don't see anything in his resume worth listening to. Even New Order... and they could've gone so far...

Obviously, this is a marginal board dealing with marginal fuckwits. But I rather fancy Mr Wilson would've preferred sentiments such as yours rather than gushing praise. He was capable of being a prick, and, like Saatchi, he contrived a movement that, in the larger consciousness, never existed. I say fair play to the chancing gobshite; the scally may say differently. Unfortunately, there are a million brilliant scenes in every city, it just takes one smooth-talking cunt to sell it to the world, and Wilson was that cunt for Manchester. For which I applaude him.

NB - Glice is hammered.

Danny Himself 08.11.2007 07:07 PM

Scally? Moi?

however big of a prick this guy might have been, he brought me Joy Division and New Order. when I was 14, New Order meant more to me than life itself.

I can't thank him enough.

cancer is a horrible way to die.
