So who is going off to University?
Who has got into university (or going back) in the next few weeks?
I'm leaving in the next week or so to move away from home for the first time (into the coolest new apartment in the centre of Cardiff with my friends) and then my first year begins a few weeks later. I'm so excited. I've been really looking forward to a change so I can't wait. What courses you guys do and where? |
I'm not really going back since I live in the city but I'm starting my senior year.
I'm taking Latin, Art Appreciation, Moral Psychology, and Critics of Modernity. My apartment is five to seven blocks away from campus. |
Hey you can take more than one subject for a degree in the states?
We can do joint honours, 2 half subjects that count as 1 degree in essence. |
People can take two majors, yes.
|
cool.
whats your uni/college (whatever you guys call it) like? |
I'm home from me first week at "uni". It was awesome. Other than my roomie being a complete nutjob. The motherfucker never leaves to dorm except for classes. He's always there posting on message boards or talking on AIM.

I moved in last Saturday, and so far so good.
|
i'm living at home this year. sigh.
i'm going to North Idaho College, a community school. i'm taking Music Theory, Survey of World Music, News Writing (plus i'm on the school paper's staff) and some math class. |
I'm planning to go to uni next year, hoping to do joint honours in audio electronics and musical instrument technology. Pretty much my pipe dream, the only uni that really offers what I'm looking for is the London Met.
What course or courses are you doing Washing Machine? |
I'm doing something simular actually, im studying Music Technology at the new Cardiff School of Creative and Cultural Studies. Its linked to the University of Glamorgan, kinda their new arts school. Its going to be awesome. The building is in the centre of the city and open to the public to view student films and excibitions. Its going to be amazing.
|
Next week i'm going to The Arts Institute at Bournemouth, to do an art foundation course. Should be fun.

If they can finish building it on time! lol. You can do more than 2 sucjects in some cases, Exeter did a Historical, Political and Sociological studies course as well as what they call Flexible combined honours which means you can do a bit of everything. Also with most Cardiff degrees you study 3 different things in your first year. part of me likes the idea of the American system where you don't decide your major straight away so I guess you can have a go at lots of things. I'm soon to start my 2nd year of BSc(Econ) Modern History and Politics at Cardiff, but you already know that... |
Nice macrodollar, how is politics? I plan to minor in politics next year.
I'm currently taking: User Support Forms Design Newsletter Design Proposal Writing Work Placement augh it's not too good. And all my other friends graduated so I know nobody except one friend and these two girls. |

It's pretty good actually, don't like how it tends to be very concentrated on the British state though. I'm hoping to do a module this year called Wales and multi level governence within the EU which is right up my street. That stuff sounds like mostly computer related stuff? Yeah Inhuman, I'm transferring from my 1st year in Exeter which was a bit crap since I didn't meet too many people who I really got on with, hoping this year will be awesome though. |
I'm going to Cambridge soon.. but just for fun, not for university. Though I would quite like to join some of the student societies. I hear they have an Ultimate Frisbee society. I bet I could sneak in.

I believe you are thinking more of a Major and a Minor, where you take 48 units towards your Major field of study, and 24 units as a Minor to fill up the needed classes. |
I'm going to Leeds to study Philosophy and Psychology on 17th Sept.
Should be some big changes to the life I've experienced so far, looking forward to it. |
I am starting my first year of a 3 year BA in Fine Art at the University of Central England on september 17th, i will be living at home during so not much will change for me.
|
I thought you were studying Photography, oh well still me.
Fine Art sounds like an excellent course, I would study it if my greater calling wasnt music. |
