If it does happen, there'll be so much hype about it that it'll never be able to be as good as everyone thinks it should be. If it's a one-off, then it'll surely be filmed and released on DVD, I think I'd rather just wait for that.

ThePits 09.12.2007 08:16 AM

I think the date being floated at the moment is the 8th of November

sonicl 09.12.2007 08:21 AM

Let's have a sweepstake: How much will tickets cost?

I reckon £85.00.

the ikara cult 09.12.2007 08:22 AM

Thats before touts?
Id say after its sold out probably in the region of £500

ThePits 09.12.2007 08:22 AM

Dont know but I will find out when I go in later

sarramkrop 09.12.2007 08:25 AM

I can't imagine doing something more boring than going to a Led Zeppelin concert in this time and age.

ThePits 09.12.2007 08:53 AM

They are talking about ticket allocation by ballot rather than box office sales
Might make it a bit harder for the touts that way

Savage Clone 09.12.2007 08:54 AM

Edit:
Never mind.
Bad photo not working.
Joke...dead.

MellySingsDoom 09.12.2007 09:19 AM

They should get J Mascis to drum and Kevin Shields to be second guitarist. That would be super awesome rad, y'all.

atsonicpark 09.12.2007 01:52 PM

yes, page/plant did that album with albini.

who gives a fuck about a zepplin reunion, it'll just be to make billions of dollars that the horny old geezers can spend on underage asian whores and blow and collect a cool billion dollars. why can't everyone be as cool as my friend buttfucking fiend morrissey (who turned down $75,000,000 for a smiths reunion and said, "i've worked hard on a solo career; those other guys haven't done anything, why should i bring them back into the spotlight?").

the ikara cult 09.12.2007 03:25 PM

apparently its all for charideeeeeeeee

sonicl 09.12.2007 04:11 PM

Fuck, I wasn't expecting three-figure ticket prices...

Here is the original press release:

Tribute To Ahmet Ertegun

November 26, 2007

O2 Arena, London

Harvey Goldsmith announces a tribute concert to the late Ahmet Ertegun in aid of the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund

One of the most eagerly awaited concerts of the decade will celebrate the life and work of Ahmet Ertegun, founder of Atlantic Records and much missed mentor to some of the greatest names in music

Profits from this amazing show will go to Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund which provides students with annual scholarships to universities in the UK, USA and Turkey.

In addition, a music scholarship open to all will be established at Ravensbourne College in the UK.

The incomparable Led Zeppelin will headline the tribute to the man who founded Atlantic Records in 1947

Robert, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones will be joined by Jason Bonham, the son of their late drummer John Bonham.

In addition, Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman and the Rhythm Kings, Foreigner and Paolo Nutini, all touched by Ertegun’s guiding hand over the years, will play on the night. Paolo was the final British artist that Ahmet mentored.

It will be a tribute from UK artists that Ertegun worked with in a 60 year career.

Tickets - £125
Due to the anticipated overwhelming demand for this concert, tickets will be available by ballot only.

Fans should register their names at www.ahmettribute.com
