Yes, ugly was my first thought. Quickly followed by gimmick.

Looks kind of sketchy.

I see those around in electronics stores like Tandy and Dick Smith all the time here.

The concept is probably fine, it's the presentation that lets it down.

what's the technophile way of converting Lp's to cd? or tape?

The sound is abysmal. My parents have one. You'll get better sound by rubbing your CD/ tape/ vinyl against your balls.

Now if it were in the shape of R2-D2...
