Walls Have Ears Cd?
According to the discography, there was a CD bootleg release of WALLS HAVE EARS. I'm guessing that means like a nice, silver CD with artwork and all... anyone have this? Ever see it? I've only seen the vinyl and CD-R versions. I'd like to find a nice original bootleg CD version if it's out there.

I've seen it come up on Ebay a couple of times. Not sure what the booklet is like but the original packaging is so nice I think I'd much rather have the proper gatefold LP.
|
I've seen it pop up on ebay only once--courtesy of a seller in Germany.
|
hmm. I just wonder how nice it looks... I mean if it's done up well, like a Kiss The Stone bootleg, then I'm gonna want to track a copy done. Y'know, silver CD... glossy color artwork, hopefully scans of the all the original inserts.
I have so many original SY boots. It would make a nice addition to the collection. |
I have both the 2LP and a silver CD bootleg of that... the artwork of the CD isn't fancy at all plus it's missing the last two songs from the original LP version.
You're better off shelling out the extra $$$ to get the gatefold double LP, which has awesome artwork on top of that. |
Is your silver CD version THE WALLS HAVE EARS or is it SONIC YOUTH SOUND EXPERIENCE which is a clone of WALLS HAVE EARS and also missing the last 2 tracks?
|
I just dug it out and it seems to be neither. It's called "Walls have ears" and seems to be released by either "Factory Projekt" or "Experience in Word & Music".
The tracklist on the back lists 16 songs, the actual CD has 15 tracks. The last two songs from the LP are listed on the back of the CD but missing (2nd version of Brother James and 2nd version of Kill Yr. Idols). |
Is the cover art the same as the LP ?
|
It's probably the one that's listed in Chris Lawrence's discography because the catologue number is the same, EWM005.. which I assume stands for Experience in Word and Music.
http://www.sonicyouth.com/mustang/lp/boot8.html RELEASE DATE ORIGIN LABEL CATALOG # 1990? ? Aulica EWM005 NOTES: CD bootleg of a bootleg. Doesn't mention Aulica anywhere on my copy though. Quote:
The front cover is the same as the LP and the back of the CD has the same imagery as the back of the gatefold LP, but with the tracklist printed over it. the picture on the back of the insert is the same as that. It's missing all the cover art of the inside of the gatefold (the pictures from Brighton etc) and also the drawings (Savage Pencil etc) of the inner sleeves of the original LP. |
Man, where and when did you find that? I'd like one for my own collection (even though I have cd-r copies of the vinyl rip and a cdr of SONIC SOUND EXPERIENCE.)
|
I think I bought the CD version about 8-10 years ago at some record fair. It was long before you could get bootlegs (either lossless or even mp3) en masse from the internet anyway.
I later bought the 2LP version at a record fair too (maybe 3-4 years ago). That one costed me about 35 euros but was well worth it, considering that it often goes for much more on eBay. If you're not an avid collector of silver CD bootlegs then I wouldn't bother too much about getting that CD, although if you really want then I'm sure it will pop up on eBay sooner or later. |
I used to be an avid collector of SY silver bootlegs... now a lot of the ones I get are cdrs... but for some reason I really want the silver of that one. Guess I'll keep my eyes peeled.
