new kevin shields interview
well basically kevin did this interview for VBS.TV on the show Soft Focus. Only 3 parts are up but the 4th is coming soon
http://www.vbs.tv/player.php?bctid=1293598938&bccl=Mjg0OTUyNzA0X19FV EM there's the first and you can see all the rest on the right hand side. Basically, I really liked his questions and kevs answers, especially the cigarette smoke sound thing. |
The interviewer seems more interested in his own opinon and getting Shields to agree. I hate it when interviewers do that.
|
I know, but, the questions were pretty fun.

summary for those who can't be bothered to watch the whole thing: the new album is "for three-quarters finished".
|
Mostly consisting of late 90's tracks and early unreleased tracks.
|
that's what i thought was funny. in that pitchfork article they wrote how it was all pretty much ready to go and come out this year, but the same album was also "three-quarters finished" 10 years ago. the only thing that's different now is that it doesn't just all depend on shields this time.
anyway, i've always loved isn't anything and loveless and i'll definitely give this one a listen when it comes out, but i don't have high expectations. |
its definately going to be interesting, the old material, that is. I'm really interested in hearing the new material also...
|
yeah - it'd be kind of interesting if we get to hear brand new stuff side to side with things that were hatched in the 90s.. The interview was alright though shield always comes across as a nice guy but i think the only thing that interested me really was him saying his strength has been his limitation. I dont know though its always a bit hazy when it comes to if they're going to put out anymore music but with this interview and the shows they're got to be gearing up for something.

call me a hipster "fag" or whatever but i think vice is totally great. vice tv is no exception either. soft focus is hosted by ian svenonious, yknow, the singer from that AMAZING bang Nation of Ulysses, and has interviewed highly relvant musicians such as Will Oldham, Ian Mackaye, Genisis P. Orridge, Andrew WK, Mark E. Smith, Kevin Sheilds, more, and more to come. They also got Epicly Laterd hosted by the awesome Patrick O'Dell, who has basically worked the two best photo jobs ever, Vice, and thrasher. I love this show being a long time skate rat, well more so when i was younger, i still love riding the shread sled but ull very seldom see me try and 50 50 a rail. They also got vbs meets, music world, practice space, art world, just lots and lots of great stugg. Besides basketball (nba and college), patriots football, Sopranos, the Wire, and sportscenter highlights, id say vbs.tv is the only i watch.
