Bands that should reform, or perhaps never went away.

From other threads. I'm sure we've had this before, but I'm not much of a one for caring about duplicate threads.

So, given that it's very unlikely that the likes of the Pumpkins, MBV or The Pixies have any decent reason to reform except money (a fair reason, but I'm not going to their shows because of it), who should be reforming? We've had Loop and Slowdive nominated already, I'd like to see Cluster or, ideally, Urusei Yatsura reform. Let's have some thoughts.

NB - the Pistols are exempt from criticism. Not because they're the godfathers of punk or anything, but because they're entirely justified in being utter cunts. And long may they continue to be so.

Cluster broke up?
I didn't know that.

Someone from this board has seen them live, i think it was Savage Colone, and said it was the most boring concert he's ever been to.

Toxa 11.19.2007 03:23 PM

definetly geraldine fibbers.

Only discovered they used to be great recently, I assumed they'd split up at some point. I am hence covered by the part of the thread title reading '...perhaps they never went away'. Ergo I win.

Torn Curtain 11.19.2007 04:08 PM

I'd like to see the Smiths (even if a reunion will only happen because of the money).

drrrtyboots 11.19.2007 04:17 PM

Polvo is making one of my dreams come true even though its only for one show apparently and Unwound obviously.

Savage Clone 11.19.2007 04:18 PM

I saw Cluster once.
I fell asleep. Seriously.

I'm not shure if I really want to see Kyuss reunite, but it would be so so so exciting to see what they would come up with.

Bring back the Zombie Beach Boys.

Drive like Jehu, Crass, Big Black (yeah right), Integrity (hardcore needs a kick to the ass), DNA (another never will happen), John Cale and Lou Reed should get in the studio and make an experimental alblum, i cant think right now, a lotta punk bands could get back, but id fear it would never be the same. a part of me thinks bands that have broken up should stay broken up except for maybe a victory tour or something, but they shudnt start recoridng again, i mean if ure a great influential band why fuckin bother potentially fuckin up a close to perfect catalog. the only bands that have comeback and made excellent to good music are wire and mission of burma, the new dino jr aint bad either, but it certainly does not hold up to bug, YLAOM, or self titles, and the stooges alblum, cmon now. reunion tours=cool especially for the fans who were there from the beginning and the fans who were too young to see them live back in the day, reunion alblums=a very risky gamble that many of my favorite bands have totally shit all over.

Toilet & Bowels 11.19.2007 07:48 PM

big black did a reunion show last year

Toilet & Bowels 11.19.2007 07:49 PM

cluster played a show in london earlier this year, i very nearly almost went, but then my friend i was going with pulled out at the last minute and i while i was curious to see what they're up to nowadays (having only heard their 70s stuff) i thought theirs is the type of music that probably isn't that interesting live anyway, being electronic.

Toilet & Bowels 11.19.2007 07:49 PM

i'd like to see fushitsusha get back on it, find a new drummer or whatever it is that is preventing them from being an ongoing concern. also high rise, harry pussy, the shadow ring and the jesus lizard i'd like to see reform, just to see them live. there are plenty of bands i wished i'd seen but if they reformed they probably wouldn't be anything like i'd want them to be anyway.

also, not so much a reformation, but i'd like to see mark e smith get some musicians with a bit of imagination to join the fall. i think he's screwing himself by having this thing about not playing with people who like the fall, because that just leaves him to play with oasis fans and the like.

the ikara cult 11.19.2007 07:55 PM
