Suicide
I just got into them, and I love them! I got their self-titled on impulse, anything I should definately hear?
|
I enjoy the first rehearsal tapes quite a bit.
Cheree is such a beautiful song. I want to make a movie just so I could use Cheree in it. |

I said the exact same thing to a guy I work with when I listened to it today. I do that so often... too bad I don't have the patience to put all of my ideas together for an actual movie :) |
get their second record too, but they never made anything nearly as brilliant as their s/t

I agree with that, but 2002's American Supreme is actually a damn fine album, even one of the best of the year. Of course it isn't as classic as the first album by one of the most important groups in either punk or electronic music, but for a modernized post-911 version of the band, it's quite good. Rev and Vega are still playing together and they're not retreading or denying the present tense, so I highly reccomend checking American Supreme out (it helps to read the liner notes to totally feel where Vega was coming from). |
the debutis the one to have, the rest are only pale imitations. i have a way of life and its mediocre at best!
|
The 2nd album is just as good in my opinion, which has the first rehersal tapes as a 2nd disc on the 2xCD reissue version.
Alan Vega's 1st solo LP is amazing! One of the best things I've bought all of 2007! Pulsing electronic rockabilly or something. Martin Rev's 1st solo album (available on CD from Roir records) is also excellent, but the bonus tracks recorded in the early 90's are terrrible. I haven't heard anything else by them but the first 2 Suicide albums and both members 1st solo albums is some of the best music i've ever heard! |

You should read my post right above yours. American Supreme is so completely different that it can in no way be considered a "pale imitation" of the debut as it doesn't imitate it at all. That said, the first album is still the immortal classic, but as artists Rev and Vega are fully capable of making a modern statement that doesn't ape it. |
they're okay.
i seem to prefer bands they inspired way more though. |
oh, my bad, I thought this was gonna be some kind of "how to ..." thread, never-mind.
