Let's talk about this again, because I feel like it's been a couple of years...
1. What was it's actual title? 2. Where/how much was it screened? 3. Did anyone ever bootleg it? 4. Who has seen it and how? 5. Will it ever see an official release? 6. Tell me more! |

1. What was it's actual title?
I don't thing it has a atitle 2. Where/how much was it screened? ??? 3. Did anyone ever bootleg it? don't think so 4. Who has seen it and how? I think that only people that are close to the band have seen the unedited tapes. 5. Will it ever see an official release? yes 6. Tell me more no :) the last official update from 2002: SONIC YOUTH SEEKS HELP FINDING EVOL TOUR TAPES As work progresses on the EVOL tour film, it has become apparent that there is no known audio documentation of many of the gigs other than the mic on the VHS camera the movie was shot on. That little mic got pounded. It sounds pretty darn cool, but it has been making people wonder what other tapes exist of these gigs, perhaps to replace some of the camera sound. Tapes are being sought of the following gigs: 6/27/86 Houston - Café Mode 7/05/86 Huntington Beach - Safari Sam's 7/06/86 Portland OR - Pine street theatre 7/12/86 Denver - Duetscher Hang 7/14/86 Kansas City KS - Parody Hall 7/15/86 Minneaplois - First Ave. 7/19/86 Indianapolis - Hoosier Ballroom 7/20/86 Columbus - Stache's 7/21/86 Cleveland - Peabody's 7/23/86 Rochester - Idols If anyone has tapes of these shows, please contact studio@sonicyouth.com. Needless to say, the earliest generation you can hunt down is the best, it would be amazing to get original cassettes or reels! Thanks everybody. ------ EVOL TOUR TAPE UPDATE Thanks to the effort of several friendly people, we've got a bunch of the evol tour tapes we were looking for. We're still searching for the following gigs: 7/06/86 Portland OR - Pine street theatre 7/14/86 Kansas City KS - Parody Hall 7/19/86 Indianapolis - Hoosier Ballroom 7/23/86 Rochester - Idols If anyone has tapes of these shows, please contact studio@sonicyouth.com. Needless to say, the earliest generation you can hunt down is the best, it would be amazing to get original cassettes or reels! Thanks everybody. |
That's so cool they played a place called Idols.
Evol was a hell of a tour as they were kind of touring the Death Valley '69 12" too, because it hadn't come out too far ahead of Evol. So they did stuff like "Brother James" that hadn't been in the set in quite some time. I kept screaming for them to play that in Seattle, but they were probably going to anyway. But then after they played it everyone in the club started calling out requests, which seemed to annoy them a bit. |
good call on this thread... been wonderin' about this film from time to time...
|
Enlightening Moshe... I don't remember that call for tapes. It's a @sonicyouth.com address too, which answers a question I had as well: I guess that means it's a totally official (endorsed by the band) film.
This shiz needs to come out on DVD. And fast, dudes. |
