I just started to develop an interest in his works quite recently. Nuts. HEAR WATCH |
man!!! is this the first and only memorial thread for henri chopin?
shame, people. rest in peace, a great, innovative man. |
This is sad news indeed. His death will leave a huge gaping hole in the universal psyche of experimentation...
I had the great pleasure of meeting and photographing him at the beginning of the 00's when I visited his home and studio on a mission for The Wire. He was warm, friendly, open and gloriously eccentric... and I had an amazing hour or so in his company... shooting the breeze. ![]() ![]() R.I.P. |
damn. i love that guy. so sad.

And I just selected something of his as "a noise song that makes you smile" today in demonrail's noise survey thread. Well, he lived a long life. R.I.P. Listen to some of his work at www.ubu.com http://www.ubu.com/sound/chopin.html |
when i recorded my mokinox record for chocolate monk, i'd never heard henri chopin. jim o'rourke gave me an OU box and told me to check out chopin's work. i was dumbstruck. his stuff was incredible and recorded 25 years earlier. chopin was a visionary.

sad, but not unexpected - he was pretty old.
amazing guy, perhaps ahead of his time, or in the words of gertrude stein on visionaries "not ahead of his time but the first one to realise the spirit of his time". |
This needs to be bumped for people who don't know about him...
|
thanks
|
It is awfully sad. So very sad.
RIP. |
It's admirable how he still performed live even at the age of 85. RIP.
