You should think about getting a free torrent program.

It's estimated that 62% of the people that downloaded In Rainbows didn't pay anything for it, so that sort of takes the sting out of some of the criticism Radiohead is getting for pulling the download.

I downloaded it (& the so-so second disc too) from Protectmeyou's links (all expired).

I'm thinking about doing the keepvid and flv to avi conversion thing to the "Scotch mist" video from New Year's Eve.

you should consider snatching the DVD version torrented on dime in case you missed it, quality is (quite obviously) much better and the whole thing isn't THAT big, probably less annoying to get it this way than saving/converting youtube vids :)

215 seeders

now, instead of having to pay 40 pounds for the LP, and pulling my hair out because i can't seem to get torrents to work properly on my computer, could someone please do me a kindness and just upload the album. not the live album, although i do appreciate it, just the regular studio album. thank you, and now i need to go get my cat out of the coat closet before he destroys something.

thaaaank youuuuu!!!!!

nicfit 01.07.2008 05:23 PM

you're welcome, hope everything works. There are better versions (320kbps mp3s) than this floating around, at least for cd1 (I think the cd2 linked is already at high bitrate judging by the archive's size), hopefully hayden will hook you up with the better version soon, till then at least you can have a listen/have someone have a listen.

Cantankerous 01.07.2008 05:24 PM

how the fuck do i unzip on a mac?

Cantankerous 01.07.2008 05:42 PM

nevermind, don't need to

Rob Instigator 01.07.2008 05:46 PM

you should have downloaded it when they were selling it for $1.00!!!

in this day and age why oh why would you give the general public the ability to take your music that you slaved over and worked so hard to create and record and give them the option of downloading it for free???? or near free? That is just asking for fucking trouble.

I am sure they would ahve sold a shitload if they had sold the entire album for download at the cost of $10.00

That wold be like $9.50 profit!

Yeah, you probably have StuffIt Deluxe already factory-installed which can handle .zip files.

I know you didn't ask me for my opinion, so I didn't bother giving it. I simply stated a fact of life: In rainblows. If you enjoy the album, though, more power to you. Nothing wrong with gettin it for free.

Regarding Radiohead "slaving over their music and giving people the option to take it for free" 3 things: 1) The whole album is rushed and shitty, so they might feel like charging a flat price for it would've alienated people, 2) On a major label, they'd only make like $1 per CD sold, so the fact that they sold it themselves means that if someone pays $20 for it, that'll completely make up for the 10 people who didn't pay for it at all, and 3) Radiohead don't need the money anyway. Some people will say, "Oh, this just proves Radiohead isn't greedy!" Greed isn't the point; they're all multi-millionaires, and they're collectively not going to make much money off this record to make a difference either way -- touring and t-shirts will be where they get the big cheese. Music isn't "work", it should be fun, it shouldn't be something to fulfill a contract... I have fun making music, it'd be cool if people wanted to give me money for it since I spend so much time refining it, but the greatest joy to me is just that people hear it period. Despite Radiohead being a band that isn't very good, at least they did the right thing in this case. I sure as hell would be pissed if I had paid $10-15 for this album.

Anyway, instead of listening to this, you should all go watch Rampo Noir. What a great movie!

Norma J 01.08.2008 02:53 AM

Oh, it's this album. ahaha. I've usually been somewhat anti-Radiohead. But on the odd chance I listen to the radio I've caught a song or two and think "Fuck, that was pretty cool. Who's that?" and then it's announced as Radiohead. So, I am finally on their Myspace now checking out In Rainbows and don't mind what I hear at all. So I come on here and search Radiohead, and this thread comes up. When I'd already been looking at this thread prior to venturing over to Myspace.

Funny huh?

Yeah, right.

Dude, pipe up!

You used to be entertaining on here but now you're just getting repetitive. Used to be enlightening rather than boring.
