Is there any Gastr Del Sol video footage? I haven't heard anything about a DVD...

what is Gastr Del Sol ??

Gastr Del Sol are one of the best bands of all time. I guess the best description would avant-folk that is beyond beautiful at times and really ugly some other times. Usually drumless and usually very very minimal, the sole focus of the band is almost always obscure lyrics, silence, acoustic guitars (often finger picked with a heavy emphasis on harmonics and WEIRD chording), and subtle electronic manipulations (provided by Jim O'Rourke). Check out Upgrade and Afterlife, easily one of the best albums of all time...

Any of their albums will blow your mind.
I heard about them through the sonic youth/jim o'rourke link, and ended up liking them better.

im actually listening to 'upgrade and afterlife', it is soooo amazing, so abstract, so beautiful, just a great fucking record, ive said it before, but i think its an easy contender for alblum of the 90's along with 'loveless' and 'spiderland', out of all the musical acheivements of the elusive mr. o'rourke i think gastr del sol, and upgrade and afterlife inparticular, is his highest.
