The U-Men

I know Dead -Air is a fan, but other than him who else loves this band? I got thier Solid Action cd and I am absolutely in love with it.

"They" is one of the greatest rock songs ever!

I figured you hadn't or you'd be a fan. The Surfers song is about them and in their style (filtered through the cosmic Butthole of course). Imagine the Birthday Party jamming with the Cramps on some Sonics (the '60s band!) covers and you get the general idea, except it's not some stupid retro-indie thing because they were doing it in 1984!

the singer sounds like Elvis on acid after being in the woods for a long while.

I think Bigley would be complimented by such a summation of his style. They played a show at Bumbershoot where he casually filled the moat in front of the Mural Ampitheater at the Seattle Center with gasoline and lit it on fire and then proceeded to finish their set. The moat was removed after that.

Yeah, pretty much every article about them mentions that. But it is rather hard to find more in depth information about them. You said you saw them lve, what were they like?
