I just listened to "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea" by Neutral Milk Hotel
for the 1st time.
I thought it was very good. I liked the whole album. I'd read and heard about them for years but I never bothered to listen. Now I kind of wish I had. Thoughts? |
i find them annoying.
|
Same. Never got into them at all.
|
I like them but I have to be in a weird mood to listen to them.
|
Judging by your latest thread, what's weird for you?
|
Like when I'm not having crazy sex while snorting hot lines off a stripper's ass.
|
How did you know what I was doing at this very second?
|
It's just what I'm doing too.
|
Co-incidence?
|
Fucking amazing album.
Perfect. |
I like one song on it, but christian rock is not for me.

Ha, me too, sort of. This is the first album in like forever I actually felt "pressured" to buy. The hype is unbelievable. But I have to admit I only listened to it twice, so maybe I'm not giving it enough time. Anyway it didn't leave my genitals tingling the way Boris's Pink did the first time I heard it. |

Christian rock? |

I tend to think of it this way: How does it compare to, say, Daydream Nation, Exile on Main Street, or even Revolver? Enough said? |
That guy's voice is really irritating.

hell yeah christian rock read about it! |

Yeah, I'm not putting it anywhere near the same league as those. Notice I said "very good" and not "great" or "amazing". I would use those words to classify DDN and Revolver. Some of the novelty has worn off of it. I see it as something I might dig out every once in a while, not something that I use as a template to judge things by, as with DDN or Revolver. |

Where? I haven't heard this in ref to this album before. |
I listened to it once and hated it to the point of never wanting to give it a listen again...

Rob is referring to the lyrics of the song "The King of the Carrot Flowers Pt. 2" http://www.neutralmilkhotel.net/lyrics.html The King of Carrot Flowers Part Two I love you Jesus Christ Jesus Christ I love you Yes I do I love you Jesus Christ Jesus Christ I love you Yes I do And on the lazy days The dogs dissolve and drain away The world it goes And all awaits The day we are awaiting I was a contemporary of these fellows in Athens; I didn't like them all that much then as well as now. That's not to say it's all bad because a lot of it is worthwhile. Unfortunately the Chickasaw Mudd Puppies never saw any of the media attention that the E6 bands did. Many of the E6 titles from the nineties are very influential on "alternative" music to this day. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ele...ording_Company |
