Glice, top this if you can.

The most ridiculous thing in a song ever is the exchange of words and grotesque snoring on The Velvet Underground's ''Lady Godiva's Operation'' (which is the second best track on ''White Light/White Heat'', by the way). Top this song with something better and I will mail you a pint of your favourite bitter. *

the most ridiculous thing in a song ever? that is a GREAT competition. you have a top shelf one there my friend.

Savage Clone 03.06.2008 03:46 PM

sweetly

Savage Clone 03.06.2008 03:49 PM

I think the exchange between the husband and wife characters in The Residents' "Walter Westinghouse" is pretty fucked up.

The mixing "technique" at work in that tune is a headscratcher for sure.

the ikara cult 03.06.2008 04:02 PM

The phone conversation during "Tracy" by Mogwai is pretty odd.
The line "Little Brown Sausages lying in the sand" in that Tom Waits song from Bone Machine.
Whenever Mark E Smith mentions Hovis in a song

the ikara cult 03.06.2008 04:03 PM

oh and that phone conversation in "22 going on 23" by the Butthole Surfers

Savage Clone 03.06.2008 04:04 PM

Pebbles compilation fanatics back me up:

"The Spider And The Fly" by The Monocles.

Just wow.

Ok, that is a good mention (I'm even a little incredulous about reading that on here), still.......

I don't think so, and don't forget that Mark E. Smith took more than a trick or two for his vocal delivery off that album.

the ikara cult 03.06.2008 04:20 PM

Off Bone Machine? Thats from the late 80s/early 90s i.e. well after The Fall started, and MES hasnt really ever changed his style except for screeching a bit less and drawling a bit more.
I think the Mogwai one is a strange idea, the Tom waits one is Surreal imagery, and the Fall one is just funny. I guess what youre looking for is some combination of the three.

sarramkrop 03.06.2008 04:36 PM

Mar E. Smith's favourite rock tune is the Velvet's ''Sister Ray'' and he publicly lauded Lou Reed for beating the shit off David Bowie in some restaurant in Kensington, once.

sorry i thought you meant he nicked vocal tricks off Tom Waits
I dislike both Bowie and Lou Reed so the idea of them having a fight is pleasurable.

[Bottle of Claret for you if I had realised...

Well, do it next time.

I forgot about it, George, I'm sorry.
Will you forgive me?

Yes.]

...then there's this Welsh Rarebit wearing some brown underpants
...about the shortage of grain in Hertfordshire

Everyone of them knew that as time went by they'd get a little bit older and a litter slower but...

It's all the same thing, in this case manufactured by someone who's always/umpteen ...
Your father's giving it diddly-i-dee/district was leaving...
Intended to die ... Ottoman
...long gone through...
I've got to say, irritably and...
...floors, hard enough to put on ... per day's MD in our district
There was not really enough light to get down
And ultimately ... slumped down
Suddenly...

They may stop the funding...
Place your bets
The original
Afraid she'll die ...
Great colours for the season

I sustained nothing worse than ...

Also, for example
Whatever you're doing
A business deal falls through

I informed him on the third night, when fortune gives...

People ride, people ride
Ride, ride, ride, ride, ride

Number 9, number 9, number 9, number 9

Ride! Ride!

Number 9, number 9, number 9, number 9

...I've missed all of that
It makes me a few days late
Compared with, like, wow!
And weird stuff like that...

...taking our sides sometimes
...floral bark

Rouge doctors have brought this specimen

I have nobody's short-cuts, aha...

9, number 9

...with the situation

They are standing still

The plan, the telegram...
Number 9, number...

A man without terrors from beard to false
As the headmaster reported to my son
He really can try, as they do, to find function...
Tell what he was saying, and his voice was low and his hive high
And his eyes were low...

Alright!

It was on fire and his glasses were the same
This thing knows if it was tinted
But you know it isn't
To me it is...

So the wife called me and we'd better go to see a surgeon to price it ...
Yellow underclothes
So, any road, we went to see the dentist instead
Who gave her a pair of teeth which wasn't any good at all
So I said I'd marry, join the fucking navy and went to sea

In my broken chair, my wings are broken and so is my hair

I'm not in the mood for whirling

How? Dogs for dogging, hands for clapping
Birds for birding and fish for fishing
Them for themming and when for whimming

...only to find the night-watchman unaware of his
presence in the building

Number 9, number 9, number 9, number 9, number 9

Industry allows financial imbalance

Thrusting it between his shoulder blades

The Watusi, The Twist

El Dorado

Take this, brother, may it serve you well

Maybe it's nothing
What? What? Oh...

Maybe, even then, impervious in London

...could be difficult thing...
It's quick like rush for peace is because it's so much
Like being naked

It's alright, it's alright
It's alright, it's alright

It's alright, it's alright
It's alright, it's alright
It's alright

If you became naked

HOLD THAT LINE!
BLOCK THAT KICK!

nulled because the person narrating this was a compulsive liar who called the show every day with a similar story. thus, not real.

---
i'm not very sure about this thread, but i'll say that the track in whitehouse's bird seed with the girl(s?) talking and every movie sample used by xxx maniak.

the ikara cult 03.06.2008 08:00 PM

"nulled"?

Everyneurotic 03.06.2008 08:05 PM

yes, like void and null.

and this is nothing against you, ikara, just stating facts.

the ikara cult 03.06.2008 08:20 PM

good stuff, i always wondered listening to it whether it was a band member doing a prank call or something like that, thanks for enlightening me,

Third verse, 'Mutiny in heaven', The Birthday Party - voice three in background shouts "1, 2, 3, 4...". Everyone else on the track fpays no attention.

Last Verse, 'Dr Bucks Letter', the Fall "[...]they made such a fuss about givenittame [snort] and I [laughs] I spend more time getting it turned down"

When the guitars come in on Living on a prayer, Bon Jovi. Rather than make the farty bassline less pronounced, they actually emphasise its fartiness.

The second inexplicable drum solo on the Shaggs' foot-foot.

"I'm serious as cancer/ when I say rhythm is a dancer"

Prince - "Baby baby baby baby..." I want U. And by that token, the whole of the Make Up's In mass mind.

I may mull for a while longer.
