Is $60 too many to see Lou Reed & Melt Banana?
The venue they're playing it is very, very nice but the tickets are super-expensive compared to everything else in the city.
Thoughts? Edit: Fuck this morning. Excuse the bad grammar/sentence structure/word choice in the thread title. Words can fuck off right now. |
I'm not the biggest Lou Reed fan, so
i wouldn't go. Melt Banana are a great live band, though. |
I don't think it's too much, a friend of mine paid that to see freakin' Green Day. If Green Day is worth $60, I think that means that Lou Reed and Melt Banana are worth roughly $4,327.62, by my math.

The answer is yes.
I've seen them twice , it wasn't more than 15 euros ( $60 , WTF and fuck ) edit: does anyone want to see LR and MB at the same venue ? |
Lou reed, what's he gonna sing? is he just gonna talk while music is playing?
I'd pay $3.00 for melt banana, all you gotta do is place a piece of soft wood into a blender, turn it on high and put your ear right next to it . that's FREE |
60 dollars, thats about 45 euro.... hmmm, im paying 30 euro for abttles and liars and 20 euro for melt banana alone. lou reed over here the last time he played was about 50 euro, that was about 7 years ago so i reckon that 60 dollars is a good price.....

melt banana and lou reed? that is fuckin random.

Very. What's even more random in the venue choice. The venue is the Tennessee Theatre (same venue that SY played here in 2000). This admission is always $45+. This place gets artists like Jackson Browne, George Jones, BB King, Etta James, and the Ron White Comedy tour (read: lame Blue Collar Comedy guy). Most venues here charge around $15-$30 for big label major acts (ie N*E*R*D, Built To Spill, Dinosaur Jr, Son Volt. Just to name some recent ones) Even stranger is that Melt Banana have played this city twice before in a club/bar the size of a matchbox with the average admission price being $5. Lou Reed's lastest album is some ambient shit. I'd be more than willingly to pay the price if he'd play Metal Machine Music just to keep up with Melt Banana. Lou Reed & Melt Banana here? ![]() ![]() |
can you see if you can find a bigger picture?
|
melt-banana are on a mission to play bigger venues now, they are playing a ritzy jazz amphitheater here and it's their first visit (cost: $250 pesos which is like $30 u.s. dollars).
|
40's my personal limit for shows. I'd only pay more than 40 to see maybe one of my top 5-10 bands/artists.
|
Yes.
|
if you have the money i would see it, but if you're on a tight budget then i say no. you can spend 60 bucks on something else. melt banana are amazing live though.
|
You should go, last I time I saw Lou Reed the tickets were 60€! I luckely got to go for free though.
|
id pay 60 bucks to see a resurection show with hendrix, sun ra, miles davis, darby crash, biggie smalls, tupac, big l, metallica with cliff burton, minutemen with d. boon, catch my drift?
|
I paid $50 (I think) to see Sonic at Anthology but that was a super rare occurance. My eyes usually glaze over at $20+ - and that usually means big mafia clubs where I can't bring in my taper anyway.
if you got the $60 to burn and like the bands just do it. personally I think its an awful lot. To just see melt banana, thats ridiculous. |
Lou Reed + Melt Banana = super fucking awesome. I'd say it's worth it.
|
HELL NO LOL

OF COURSE Lou Reed would say this. He needs the money |
I think I'm just going to wait and see if I can find someone selling their tickets for below face value maybe because I have a feeling they'll be a lot of casual Lou Reed fans back down when they find out who Melt Banana are. Quite a few tickets have been sold already. Back to Row G in less than 2 full days. Plus, it's only 5 days after I see SY. So, I won't exactly be in a concert drought.
