I need your help! Recommendations
Okay so basically, I'm listening to Artanker Convoy right now because I'm really into them for one or two weeks now, and I'd like to find other bands that play that kind of rhythmic, groovy jazz. I think I'm going to check the Chicago Underground Trio / Quartet etc, as they play a few tunes with Tortoise on the Tortoise boxset (A Lazarus Taxon) that I got and that I enjoy.
Anything I should check? |
Anders Griffen
Listen to Baiser Rejeunit, Kids and Spring, if you like them I can upload the album for you. In fact, most are available to download free here |
Art Ensemble Of Chicago. Duh! Music for the lovers of art.

artanker convoy and tortoise aren't jazz groups, chicago underground duo are pretty different to either of them, they do play jazz though
|
Yeah I know they're not really jazz, but they got really jazz elements though

Hey SYRFox you should use last.fm to find similar artists, that's what I do.

Yep that's what I use usually, but for Artanker Convoy the similar artists are actually based on their label (The Social Registry) and not the style, probably because of users like me that began to listen to Artanker Convoy because they were signed on this label.
Similar artists of Artanker Convoy are Gang Gang Dance (The Social Registry), Magik Markers (which probably many Social Registry worshippers listen to), Sam Prekop (don't know him), Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (don't like him), Psychic Ills (The Social Registry), Department of Eagles, Dead Meadow, Sunburned Hand of the Man (as for Magik Markers), so from what I know they're not really accurate |
sam prekop played in the sea & cake with john mcentire from tortoise. sam prekop's solo stuff is pretty similar to the sea & cake.
