i think it's a bit absurd how the nyt calls the criminal "mr." "the asshole" would be more appropriate.

but fuck, poor woman-- this is sad, horrible, yet slightly funny because of the ridiculousness of it-- what some people would call an "ironic" ending to this trip. of course "funny" only from a safe & detached distance. i don't want to think about it and feel sad.

well, here we got quite a big coverage of the story. For once, family and friends were intelligent enough to try and pass on her message and her "joy for life" rather than building up a sort of tv-drama.
And I bet many of the "Hyena-journalists" who interviewed them were a bit disappointed by this.

if I were to guess, I would say the idea of hitchhiking is to get somewhere other than where you are with a minimum of walking and / or raping.

ironically, even though she didn't complete her journey her murder has probably made a much greater success of her work

hitchhiking in ame4ica is dangerous enough but to do so in such a freaky country? shit. in wedding dresses? fucking horrible.

In lighter hitch-hiker news, there was a chap who was going to hitch-hike all the way from the South-West of England to India in the name of peace, relying upon the kindness of people along his way. He got so far as France and realised he couldn't speak the language, and had to turn back and give up. Utter spacker.
