the specials

anyone like them? their first album is one of my favorite album of all time. an awesome combination of ska, punk, reggae, soul and just plain rock n roll. i think them and the selecter are my two favorite two tone bands. the first madness album is amazing as well.

Yeah, I love all of that stuff. Pretty much everyone in the movie Dance Craze kicked ass. It's a shame how lame pretty much all ska since then has been though.

i have a bootleg dvd of the movie and it's awesome. i wish i could dance just so i could dance to that movie all night long. i have the lp of the soundtrack too.

some of the other two tone bands are worth checking out like the selecter, the (english) beat and the body snatchers.

60's ska is pretty cool too. prince buster is the man.

60's Ska is the shizzle. Me likey The Specials very much, and am very fond of their 2nd LP (The "easy listening" one). I'm old enough to remember "Ghost Town" being Number One here - ah, them were the days. In spite of me becoming increasingly resistant to band re-formations, I would certainly pay money to see the original Specials line-up play together again.

yeah that would cool. i saw them about ten years ago play and they sucked but it wasn't the whole original group. neither terry hall or jerry dammers was there.

I love the specials.

LittlePuppetBoy 04.23.2008 11:40 AM

I like em. I have the first three albums on vinyl (stole them from my dad, who was very much into that kind of ska for some reason).

PAULYBEE2656 04.23.2008 01:13 PM

Everyneurotic 04.23.2008 11:39 PM

on second listen, i'm pretty sure it was "gangsters", not "ghost town" the one melt-ba covered.

uhler 04.23.2008 11:40 PM
