Dude, fuck that. If you want to come out to some people go ahead. I agree with you on everything you said. I usually say that to some people who become my close friends. If they stop being my friends I do not care. Yeah, just do what you are comfortable doing. I hate these left-wing ideals, most of these people are not accepting.

I lived in a town like that for most of my highschool career. It wasn't until afterwards and everyone moved away that I found out that several of the people in my social group were gay or otherwise non-straight :p

I don't think that's any help, but I thought I'd share.

My best friend and I were used to being assumed to be gay, so I can confirm that being 'gay' in a small town in a rural area isn't necessarily the most highly thought of position to be in.

Being in the city, it's easier to find a group of friends who really don't care what yr sexuality is, but small towns are prob going to have more douchefucks who care too much about what other people will think if they have views that arent 'normal'.

Oh I see. Yeah, I hate it when people introduce me like that too. As if my opinions don't really matter, and are of comical relief. However, I don't deal with that often, since I live in L.A. the gayest city I can imagine.

I don't know if you have a gay section in your town, but I hate West Hollywood. It is filled with the most shallow egotistical idiots I ever seen.

You know, they say 10% of the world is gay. And it's 2008 -- I thought we were all past this issue. Hell, I live in a close minded meth town but everyone here doesn't give a fuck if you're gay. Which is a shock. A few people will give you stares and shit, but most people accept it. 10 fucking percent of the world!!!.... I think we're all a bit past that. Or, I was hoping we were all a bit past that. I hope the rest of the world can eventually get to that point I guess.

Move to San Francisco. Nobody gives a flipping fuck here.

There's a pretty good punk/gay/anarcho "scene" of sorts still happening in Belfast, I believe. One of my mates lived there for 7 years in the 90's, and he managed to hook up with some decent types there.

being gay in this country is shit because i can't find anyone like me who isn't some overtly camp female idolising idiot and the gay bars sound worse than the fucking straight bars around here.

What you say is very true, and why would anyone have to come out when they feel like they're out anyway? Keep in mind, though, that what you might perceive as homophobia a lot of the time is simply ''What is homosexuality, anyway?''. Good luck and find a job, you lazy bum.

well, hey
congratulations either way!
it's good that you're honest with yourself

cryptowonderdruginvogue 05.07.2008 04:47 AM

I would also like to add that you bring up many great points.
There shouldn't be this "obligation" to come out to your friends and family.
They should just accept you for who you are, straight or gay
It shouldn't even matter if they're your mates

Rob Instigator 05.07.2008 09:46 AM

be true to yrself. that is all that is required.
