Humboldt St - I think I lived out there for short spell in 1995.

when i went there a couple of years ago, i was on the floor laughing; there's a neighborhood just like that here called la condesa and i mean it when i say "just like that".

if i go to ny later on in the summer, i might go there if there's good shows or something.

the hipsters look like dorks but other than that it's no big deal to me.

I saw this dude the other night in the East Village he had on like a chiffon shirt tied around his chest like a girl and lots of beads and long hair and some make up and I was laughing to myself at this obvious Devandra wanna be (I know it wasn't Devvie because this guy had obviously washed his hair int he past week)...and then I got to thinking yeah maybe he's got a reason and maybe I would dress so ridiculous if that would get me a chance to man natalie's port if you know what I mean.

hey thanks for posting this!! that's my gig, DJing. i figured there might be some folks out there that would appreciate a night of SY for free at a cheap-drinks kinda bar. i dj at legion bar one monday a month, randomly.
i'll post the flyer at some point, it's a cut a paste jobby of the sister liner notes.

i'll definitely be playing cuts from all the albums + b-sides + bits from
noise/side-projects.

i didn't know if it would be in bad taste to post something about it up here,
but again, i appreciate you throwin it up for me. should be a cool night.

what's your strategy when mixing sonic youth songs? do you look at it as sound collage or do you try and actually beatmix like a club dj would?

i've only seen a few djs play sonic youth songs, and it's usually kool thing. although rory phillips did play dirty boots during one set.

Sounds trendy.

i haven't heard anyone dj at a bar that includes club remixes of songs.

Tonite, Monday, July 14th
@ Legion Bar on Metropolitan at Humboldt
across from White Castle in Williamsburg-area. (but that shouldn't
sway you!).

It's totally free, drinks are on the cheap side, there is a pool table,
and smoking area outside, it's dark, etc.

I will be playing joints from all the albums, most side-projects, and
some noise bits, mostly vinyl, some cds. while i owe a lot of their
material this is not some completist/elitest style night, just something
for fun/fans, to have a good time too. so i'll just run down the line of
various songs/bits/etc etc. should be fun, i'll go till about 2 probably.
