i just took the SAT

i didn't completely finish any of the math sections, but other than that, i feel pretty good about it.

Alex's Trip 06.03.2006 04:17 PM

How many points can you get on the SAT's now? Didn't it change or something?

youthoftomorrow 06.03.2006 04:18 PM

yeah, they added a writing section. 2400 possible.

Alex's Trip 06.03.2006 04:46 PM

Oh, okay. What is a good score?

nomadicfollower 06.03.2006 05:56 PM

2350.

golden child 06.03.2006 06:06 PM

2400

Alex's Trip 06.03.2006 06:22 PM

You're all asses... :p

What is an average score?

acousticrock87 06.03.2006 06:26 PM

I think the average for the main 1600 is about 1000-1100 or something, but I don't know what the average is with the extra 800. I would assume somwhere around 1500-1700?

Alex's Trip 06.03.2006 06:28 PM

Go proportions!

That score seems so low, though. It's a D.

Inhuman 06.03.2006 06:30 PM

What do SAT's do? and what does it mean? I know it has something to do with exams, but we don't have them here in Canada

Ya but that's not how it's supposed to work. It isn't a percentile-type grading system. A lot of the work in it you aren't necessarily supposed to know at all.

They give you a score that helps some colleges decide whether or not to accept you. Some colleges have minimum requirements, some don't care. Depends. It's a cumulative test you take your Junior/Senior year in high school. Only for Math and English. (And now Writing, I guess.)

But still, I don't like the idea of 63%, regardless. I always do good on test, so I'm gonna go ahead and expect a better score out of myself.

Oh and it stands for Scholastic Assessment Test. I think.

Hah I know, but I mean it really isn't bad. I got straight A's all through high school, and just under 1300 on the SAT's. It was still a relatively good score; it's not the same as 1300/1600.

Alex's Trip 06.03.2006 06:41 PM

Well, for the new one., I want 1800 at least.

acousticrock87 06.03.2006 06:42 PM

Ya that's a reasonable goal. Just don't expect to get a 2300, heh.

Alex's Trip 06.03.2006 06:45 PM

I usually don't set high expectations for myself. I got my mom to do that for me. But I am only a freshman (only 12 more days till summer vacation!). So I don't really need to worry too much now.

SolidZach 06.03.2006 08:26 PM

my sister took that today

youthoftomorrow 06.03.2006 08:45 PM

i took the PSAT a few months ago and scored in the 97th percentile in the country. too bad my grades don't live up to that.
