I would love to!... but I think you have to have some kind of degree to do it in the states, at least to work for them.

EMMAh 09.17.2008 06:50 PM

Really?

Here you just have to be 18 or older. They check to see if you have a criminal record and you have to do some kind of child safety program (which they provide, I think) You also have to fill out an application and go to an interview.

terriblecanyons 09.17.2008 06:51 PM

I think I might sign up. I dunno. I need something to do, anyway.

EMMAh 09.17.2008 06:54 PM

You might as well apply anyways. I know if you get a kid that you really don't click with they set you up with someone else.

I'm just afraid the kids will be afraid of me :(

terriblecanyons 09.17.2008 06:55 PM

Psh, if I were a little girl and I got to hang out with some chick with green hair, I'd be delighted.

I'm just afraid they wouldn't be able to find a kid that matches well with me. It's hard to find girls that are heavily interested in music and video games.

EMMAh 09.17.2008 07:02 PM

You could always be matched with a little boy?

I would have liked being matched with a green haired girl when I was little too. I do come across kids who are afraid of me though :(

Well, come to think of it, I remember the first weird coloured hair I saw. I was sitting in my dad's truck as a child and this guy with a huge lime green mohawk walked by haha. I was a little scared, but it sparked my curiosity for coloured hair.

gmku 09.17.2008 07:06 PM

Hey, Emmah, you could teach them how to color their hair and all about rodents!

EMMAh 09.17.2008 07:10 PM

I would definitely bring a rat to show them if they were interested! I wouldn't encourage a child to colour their hair though, that might cause some issues with the parents. "When you're older," is what I would tell them. Depending on the age of the kid I guess.

i was one briefly when i lived in texas for 6 months back in 1990. i really don't remember much about it. in fact, i only just remembered that i had done it at all because of this thread.

EMMAh 09.17.2008 07:52 PM

Well, that was 18 years ago!

It's possible that I wasn't even born then haha, depending on when in the year you did it.

You should try to remember some things for me ;)

flophousefloozie 09.17.2008 10:02 PM

I was just thinking about this same topic when I saw that Simpsons episode the other day. "I'll take him! Do you have one in blonde?".

EMMAh 09.17.2008 10:08 PM

That's a good one!

flophousefloozie 09.17.2008 10:13 PM

But so insensitive.

If you dress in nice clothes, or just decent clothes you'll be fine. Having the right attitude helps too. My best friend who dyes her hair a lot is really perky and fun loving and out going so no one was ever afraid of her. Just don't be withdrawn and creepy.

EMMAh 09.18.2008 06:57 AM

Hahaha, well I wouldn't try to be withdrawn or creepy.
