The Thermals!

I've been listening to The Body, The Blood, The Machine a lot recently. Which is strange since I'm usually not so into indie pop stuff but the whole Christian thing about the album has got me hook, line, and Catholic guilt.

And they have an album in the oven!

Anyways I just feel like talking about them.

atsonicpark 09.30.2008 11:55 PM

Only one I have is Fuckin A. I think it's pretty good. The vocals get annoying.

pbradley 10.01.2008 12:10 AM

The dude's vocals are something I eased into but I guess dig now.

atsonicpark 10.01.2008 12:15 AM

I really dig the music. Good songs. I just think the guy talks too much. Hah.

Good band.

pbradley 10.01.2008 12:21 AM

Talks? I haven't listen to that album or really any other album. He talks?

atsonicpark 10.01.2008 12:27 AM

Eh, I mean he never shuts up.

pbradley 10.01.2008 01:03 AM

That's true.

dionysusundone 10.01.2008 09:05 AM

I have that album, The Body, blah blah blah, got it when it came out, thought it was super generic. Haven't listened to it since, but I still have it. I'll have to dig it out and see what I think now.

floatingslowly 10.01.2008 10:24 AM

I "kinda" like them. it's catchy enough, but I guess I don't have the whole "catholic guilt" thing to make me much of a fanboi. :p

Here's Yr Future has that apocalyptic feel that I like most in music though. they ended a season of Weeds with it and I almost pooped myself because I liked it so much.

I'm going to listen to them now.

this one's for you, Jesus.

schizophrenicroom 10.01.2008 05:13 PM

they're the best power pop band out today. their videos are so fun!

Pax Americana 10.02.2008 06:06 PM

Love this band. Fuckin A is simply amazing.

chairman of the bored 04.30.2009 01:51 PM

they have a new album out, "now we can see". anyone else hear it? its a further move from the raw to the refined, but still has some great songs on it. also, some of their worst. see "liquid in,liquid out" anyways...the first 8 songs or so kick balls.

noisereductions 04.30.2009 02:15 PM

I was listening to samples of the new album last night. I just felt that the vocals made every song sound the same?

chairman of the bored 04.30.2009 02:18 PM

yeah...i guess you could say he pretty much sings in the same tone of voice for every song

and they're definitely not trying to have an expansive sound by any means...totally simple power-pop-punk stuff...riffs and talking, riffs and more talking

noisereductions 04.30.2009 02:20 PM

well it wasn't so much his voice, as much as the "talkiing" thing you mention. Like the vocal delivery made it monotonous to me.

Derek 04.30.2009 02:49 PM

My friend is into these guys and all I can say is that I can't stand them.

pbradley 04.30.2009 03:05 PM

The single from the new album is more of the same. Never thought of them as a "great" band by any means, just kind of fun but seems like the fun has all dried up. I could have predicated such when I first heard them.

Pax Americana 04.30.2009 05:28 PM

I've gotta check out their new album. I'm pissed cause they're playing here in a few days, but I've gotta work.
