I only have Philophobia, but if hangovers are your thing then i heartily reccomend it.

Dead-Air 10.10.2008 10:35 PM

My wife has Philophobia. It's fucking incredible. Like taking downers without getting tired.

greedrex 10.11.2008 03:07 AM

i like some of their stuff, but it does draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag after a while.
i like The Week Never Starts Round Here, Philophobia and the Mad For Sadness live LP; these are good.

PAULYBEE2656 10.11.2008 03:30 AM

any of them.. arab strap are great.... shame they have called it a day tho....
my personal favs are mad for sadness, philophobia, monday at the hug and pint and last romance..

also check out aidain moffats solo album, i can hear your heart..

actually check it here...
its funny, sad, nice, filthy, all in one big poetic dollp... download it and listen then go and buy it because it comes with a little book which enhances the audio no end, he even says that in track one...

excellent talent from scotland!

just makes me think of an ex lovar. into all this kind of biz.

I like it in the background, but I can't actively listen to it.

jimbrim 10.11.2008 08:16 AM

I really enjoy Malcolm Middletons solo albums, check out Into The Woods, that's probably my favourite one.

radarmaker 10.11.2008 08:30 AM

Fucking love them. As others have said, Philophobia & Mad For Sadness are their defining moments, but it's all great stuff. The Ten Years of Tears comp is certainly worth checking out too, since it's got a load of rarities & obscure tracks from across their entire career.

[Sandbag] 10.11.2008 09:46 AM

paulybee, thanks for the link :)
downloading now...

I think I should check out Philophobia + Mad for Sadness first...thanks for your advice, guys...

narlus 10.11.2008 02:54 PM

the first one and Mad For Sadness are totally essential.

"New Birds"....what a song.

Picked up the Shy Retirer EP today. Miss this band. They were/are so much better than their "influences", Smog (who I sometimes like) and Will Oldham (who I can't fucking stand) both of whom are still making music.

Derek 04.17.2009 03:38 PM

Great band. I saw Aidan live supporting Shellac so thanks for the link pauly

Derek 04.17.2009 03:39 PM

"The file could not be found. Please check the download link."

I bought the Red Thread or whatever many years ago and thought it was alright but I didn't miss it when I sold it.

no way. i'm not even a will oldham fan but he's way better than arab strap.

i'm going to go against the grain, i really liked them when they put out their first couple of albums then i kind of lost interest, last year i pulled those those records again and i thought they were a bit crap

Will Oldham is better than nobody........... well, maybe Joanna Newsom.

atsonicpark 04.18.2009 06:27 AM

(Smog) is actually really good.

Toilet & Bowels 04.18.2009 06:59 AM

smog is a million times better than arab strap

atsonicpark 04.18.2009 07:03 AM

Yeah definitely.

greedrex 04.18.2009 07:06 AM

they're very different. I enjoy both a lot. Smog diversifies a lot more. AS's output is way more monolitihic.
