Superjail! (adult swim show)
 

Anyone watch it? New Adult Swim cartoon. It's pretty good.

I think I mentioned it on another thread about a year ago when talking about the pilot episode. It was awesome... never saw anything else.

Don't really follow adult swim at all anymore, though I barely did before.. the last "block" I saw of it was terrible, about 6 or more months ago..

12 oz mouse is brilliant though, easily the best adult swim show ever. It was like the PERFECT adult swim show, it just wasn't as flashy and crazy as their other shows (which was the point) so no one liked it. Probably the only show on adult swim to deserve any sort of hype, 12 oz mouse was a work of genius.

I've watched plenty of tv fucked up on acid, mushrooms, and robotussin though, and lemme tell ya!...

Superjail! is way better than 12 Oz Mouse.

It's one of the only Adult Swim shows I've ever noticed for having exceptional animation, instead of being the other way around.

I read somewhere about a year ago that the people who did the animation for superjail did the animation for "who was in my room last night?" Video by butthole surfers.

There's actually a scissor shock song I did directly after seeing the pilot episode and I called it "promise shank" in tribute..

I saw an episode online, and it was rather disturbing. Funny, but just a liiiiiittle too much violence for my taste.

I love superjail. The animation is so nuts, it's funny, and the theme song rocks. I really hope they keep it going for a few more seasons.

I ended up catching the rest of this series and really catching up with adult swim in general after my initial post. Obviously, XAVIER: RENEGADE ANGEL, DELOCATED, and THE MIGHTY BOOSH are 3 of the best shows I've ever seen in the history of television. Nothing will ever beat 12 Oz Mouse though...

As far as Superjail is concerned.. I have a burnt season 1 dvd :) I like the show, though I don't think the storylines or the concept is that great. I mainly just love the fucking animation! Jesus, there's like 100 interns on that show, drawing all 'dem crazy-ass characters. There's so much shit going on, too much shit. It's hard to watch at times. Regardless of the quality of the show itself, the animation is almost impossibly great and it's hard not to enjoy it on that level alone.

Having said that, the "cult member" episode is fucking amazing, from top to bottom.

Is that show cancelled?

No. It takes like a thousand years to animate one episode. Season 2 is being worked on.

My biggest problem with the show is that the episodes are all pretty samey, and the characters are lame. Lots of people get killed, the warden is a jerk, the twins cause some shit, the end. I know character development isn't really key, but a lot of the jokes fall flat. The general insanity is its most endearing (and hard-to-watch) quality. I just watch an episode and don't know what exactly I'm supposed to be "enjoying", but the animation is just soooo fucking insane and awesome that I can't help but watch. Still, I NEVER reccomend watching every episode in a row. Maybe that was one of my problems with the show. Talk about a migraine :)

Still, a good show overall. I hope they do it forever. Way better than most of the dreck they show (DRINKY CROW?! Also, Tim and Eric is almost always lame, but I liked Tom Goes to the Mayor, and Eric used to play in Ink and Dagger, so they get my respect)...

By the way, I just preordered the dvd:

Drinky Crow is fucking stoopid. My friends like it...but I dunno. Doesn't entertain me. Neither does renegade. Though I did catch one where his mom's brain was taken out and lost or somethin' and that actually entertained me for a while...I like it.
