the most upsetting fact is that after killing an employee in a lust for slightly cheaper merchandise, they were outraged that the store would close and not let them in AFTER KILLING AN EMPLOYEE! wtf? can you imagine if you worked there? my god!

What do you expect from a society that places ultra-consumerism, fueled by greed and self indulgence, on such a high pedestal. In my earlier post, the one about people flying planes into our buildings, I was talking about how these types of things must look to eastern and particularly ''radical'' countries, or at least countries where radicals seem to gather. From a religious stand-point, the ''meaning'' of christmas for the majority of people that practice it is lost and forgotten during the actual holiday season, perfectly signified by what happened at Wal-Mart and Toys R Us.

not just radicals, most people of the world who are less tainted with commercialism, particularly of the so-called third world, feel that American culture is thoroughly corrupted and morally bankrupt by consumerism and greed. American culture is synonomous with Apathy, which is very surprising, because many many people take the time to develop some empathy and understanding of Americans, where as Americans generally understand jack and shit about the rest of the world, and I got news for them, Jack split town..

Lots of the British hate America. Lots of Europe do. It's not just so-called third world countries, it's pretty much everyone (although perhaps not my government). That's not to say that Britain isn't part-and-parcel of the same vulgarity (and we're getting worse), just in case anyone wants to get on their high horse with me.

isn't it a bit bewildering that most people dislike america, but rarely have any gripes with actual americans? (myself included!)

I think the world fully understands the smoke and mirrors that is American politics and government, and realize that the America they hate is the imperialist/commercial/political/government aspect, which to be honest, equally afflicts millions of Americans with equal persecution as the rest of the world if not more.

In other words, to quote my paraphrase my priest, it seems like the world hates the sin, not the sinner, and hates America the concept, not the people who have been brainwashed to support it.

I think it is dumb to judge a whole nation by the acts of a minority of it, regardless of which country it is. You will demonize all of America for its consumerism but you hate it when others demonize all of Islam for terrorism, or maybe whatever might be assumed of you. It's so easy to hate the broadest common denominator, isn't it.

of course there is the complication of the military-industrial complex, which implicates the common american people into the acts of the demonizing minority. this is precisely where the problems arise..
