SUICIDE appreciation/recommondation thread
I've bought the first album recently and I absolutely love it.
Which album by them would you recommend me to buy next? |
II.
That's all you really need... |
Then get Alan Vega's first solo album Jukebox Baby.
Then Martin Rev's first solo album on ROIR. I love the 6xCD live recordings box set that was released this year but it's probably a bit much for most. |

I agree until American Supreme, which I think was a very strong record. It doesn't sound like their first two records, but I think that's a good thing. Vega and Rev work together like few duos can, and American Supreme is one of the only musical/lyrical comments on 9/11 I've heard that really dissects the whole phenomena poetically. |
Good for you to pick that up. I fucking love Suicide. Don't laugh, but I think they're genius. Sooo minimal, but with so much crazy weird energy and passion. Original as shit. The second one called Suicide as well is strong too, and i think they have an extra disc with it now. Well worth it.

I'd go for the Half Alive album. Their second album is good, but probably a bit jarring if you're expecting to hear something like the first album.

Vega helps push The Sisterhood into my top-ten.

I'd agree with all of the above, and I'd also recommend Vega's collaborations with Pan Sonic - 'Endless' and 'Resurrection River'

We should have a real suicide appreciation thread; as in, a thread for people who want to kill themselves. I think my post would get me a lot of rep.
|
I would get Suicide 2 and Way Of Life - that's a very underrated album, kind of like Suicide doing industrial music. Also has the song Surrender on, one of their best ballads (in the David Lynch-sense).
I think Alan Vega's best solo album is Saturn Strip. I love American Dreamer, Wipeout Beat, nearly all of that album. |
