belle & sebastian
i enjoy them a lot
any thoughts? |
Love them for the most part. TIGERMILK and IF YOURE FEELING SINISTER are untouchable. DOG ON WHEELS as well. Long time fan. Great stuff.
|
I love them too, although I can't ALWAYS listen to them. Not that I would be against listening to them at anytime I guess, but I have to be in the mood to choose to do so.
When I am, Tigermilk and The Boy With The Arab Strap are usually my choice. |
They remind me of a specific time in my life and, as such, I haven't been able to listen to them since.
good band though. I saw them live and I was entertained. |
i listened to them a lot a few years back, but kind of lost interest when dear catastrophe waitress came out

The last few LP's have been so-so, but when looking their discography as a whole, they're a pretty great band. |
I've always wanted to listen to them, but never have. I just saw Tigermilk, though, and bought it because of this thread.
I've listened to about half of it, and so far it's pretty good; I think I'll have to get a few of them stuck in my head before I can fully appreciate it. But the the girl ringing it up seemed super excited that I was buying it, and told me to rock on. So I will. |
They're one of my wife's favorite bands. My favorite song is "Funny Little Frog". Some of their stuff can get boring at times, but for the most part they are quite excellent.
|
I like them quite a bit. I only have three of their cds (Tigermilk, Sinister, and DCW) but I love them all. I just may get some more.
I got my girlfriend Tigermilk for Christmas. |

yeah everything they put out before dear catastrophe waitress is excellent but i've listened to all those records a thousand times |

Yeah, pretty much. Thing is, if they'd continued and released another 3 albums in the same vein as the early ones, we'd probably be slating them for not evolving and just rehashing what had already gone... |

i don't know, i'd have been happy for them to keep churning out the same old shit for years, because why fuck with magic? |
I thought the same T&B, but the DCW grew on me... it's a totally different sound, but still.
I need to find the IF YOU'RE FEELING SINISTER live album. I love that album. It's a close 2nd to TIGERMILK. |
One of the most important bands in weening me off my "classic rock" phase I had during my mid-teens, so I owe them much of my life for that alone. I admittedly don't listen to them too much anymore, but man, I pulled out If You're Feeling Sinister a few weeks ago when I was taking an early morning walk and that shit sounded GOLDEN. I like all of their albums, really, except the one with the múm chicks on the cover and Stortytelling. Those were crap.
I'd say my favorite is definitely the singles/EP collection "Push Barman to Open Old Wounds." As far as full-lengths, it's a toss-up between Tigermilk and IYFS. |
they are pretty good for driving along to but as a whole ....meh....
|
used to hate them, but then I heard Tigermilk and fell in love with it.
I've only heard their first 3 (listened to IYFS today actually), but I love all of them. |
Their early work is all that's worth it, I think. Tigermilk is great.
|
"Fox in the snow" is one of the best pop-songs from the 1990`s. "...sinister" and"...arab strap" are albums I really enjoy as well. great live-band as well...
|
theyre ok..
|
They suck now, but damn, they were awesome on the first couple albums.
I thought they were really good live when I saw them live. I saw them in Philadelphia and the lead singer dude came down the aisles with a boxing outfit on and the band played the Rocky theme....it was pretty cool. |
