The Lemonheads
 

Please tell me that I'm not the only one here who thinks they are fucking incredible. I mean, I have been listening to them pretty consistently for the past 4 months. Car Button Cloth is simply genuis. Plus I just read that they are supposed to come out with a new album. I will love it if that happens.

anyone else share my affinity for the band?

am a fan of the old stuff + works of the collective past members. Plus evan dando is one of the greats. great musos, great assholes. etcs.

If you like them you might like stuff from sneeze, smudge, and possibly dandos solo stuff..

What would you suggest I listen to by them?

I really like their cover of Mrs. Robinson, almost as much as the original. Other than that, kinda "bleh" for me.

One of my Classics professors was a touring guitarist for them..

I can get into It's a Shame About Ray, it's quite catchy. All in all though, I'm not a huge fan.

i've listened to some of dando's solo, and its good, but I need to listen to more. I haven't even heard of sneeze or smudge. I'll check em out. thanks.

But I like it all. Hate your friends, lick, car button cloth, shame, s-t...Im just a big fan. And I think that is weird because I havent ever met anyone that is THAT much into the lemonheads. I just think everything they do is pretty much genius. Top 10, for sure. Top 5? ...ehhh, MAYBE. Depends on my mood that month.

not to take anything away from your professor, because thats fucking awesome, but

a lot of people toured with them, usually for a short while. The most inconsistent, unstable, longest-lasting band I can think of...minus the Stones.

I've loved them since high school. Seen them live twice. Smoked cigarettes with Evan. They are great.

"Cigarettes Will Kill You" is a song by Ben Lee, who also wrote "I Wish I Was Him" about Evan Dando. Do I win a prize? Anyway, I quit back in May. Blah!

LICK is probably my favorite.

It's a Shame is a classic summer album. Evan was covering it in it's entirety (in about 20 minutes) here earlier this year. Apparently his girlfriend is from the area, 'cos he pops up playing at the Cluny every six months or so...
