GG Allin
What's a good GG Allin record to check out?
|
'Hated in the Nation' offers probably the best overview I've heard. A mixture of studio and live tracks. Not great, but then neither was GG Allin.

thanks

i like banned in boston the best.

Unremittingly shite.
|
thanks, I haven't heard Hated in the Nation yet. Also, it's entertaining to watch his youtube interviews, they're quite radical
|
he's ok in a cartoonish kind of way but that's about it. a one-listen-wonder. he probably makes more sense in an American, Hank Williams kind of context than he does in the UK. I mean at least Sid Vicious was pretty.
|
Is it bad that I don't think I've ever heard a single note by GG Allin?
|
gg allin is cooler than sid vicious

NOT WORK SAFE http://fishki.net/videox/metal_concert.wmv if you do not like rocking out with a guy who is shitting himself and smearing it on himself and others then.... |
do yrself a favor and don't check out any of them.
|
as theatre he was amazing. as songwriting it is merely a soundtrack I guess..never liked his albums

Quote:
Yeah, you pretty much some it up there describing his music as a soundtrack to the theatre of his overall life. The interviews I've seen with him on things like Jerry Springer are far more entertaining than the music. There's also a pretty funny account of him in Lisa Carver's biography 'Drugs Are Nice'. |
I have some fond memories of owning backroads in a trusty busted up beauville, ashes and grime and cool teen bad attitudes screaming along to gg. Ha, it was good times, then.
Sitting back downloading from my laptop...ha, I doubt I would have near the same attraction now if I hadnt heard of em. I wonder of all kinds of music that might have been more apart of my life if there had just been a particular context for, but never have. Some things I probably pass up just because they needed something else to be a soundtrack to, and would have made a unique experience altogether for me. Sometimes different things in the environment just make things click. Fuck, enough with my nostalgia. It's the mood, as I enter a new age bracket in an hour - 25 to 70. Anyways, I definately concurr with demonrail - albums like hated in the nation have some of the best...classic songs like drink fight and fuck, and the backing band The Jabbers is my favorite. |
Banned in Boston
Eat my Fuc my favorites. |

who is that guy from the mets?
|
I've been reading about him and watching interviews on Youtube lately. I don't care for the music - I gave some of it a listen, and the early stuff is just seems to be a bad Stooges rip off which is completely undangerous and unthreatening, and the later stuff I couldn't care less about.

"Hated", a documentary on GG Allin is pro skater Eric Koston's favorite movie (he didn't retire yet, did he?) At least according to this site: http://myberrics.ning.com/profile/EricKoston
Reason enough for me to want to see it. Anyone seen it? Is it good? |
