Can Sonic Youth help save all the vinal records in the world!?!?
I've just watched a short video on Paul Mawhinney, owner of "The Archive", which is
The World's Largest Record Collection:eek: It's beyond amazing that this situation exists and I thought right away, well if Sonic Youth is winning a grammy for The Eternal mix this year, maybe they would be able to invest. Can they pull 5 million dollars for a record? This guy has the most profoundly priceless record collection on the planet and he is only asking 3mill. Just wondering at the bewildering opportunity and responsibility. The guy says 80 percent of the music is not found digitally ANYWHERE. I think Sonic Youth should buy it as some sort of historic poetic ultimate destiny of triumph and awe inspiring dream action. Record geeks should check out the video anyway. Can you believe this is real?! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2j7F_4S2lgM |
Wow. It is REALLY really worth it to see the full version of this documentary (just a few minutes longer) at this link http://www.vimeo.com/1546186

it's sad that they still haven't been sold.

I am not sure but that is a big profit...I could be mistaken though... |
That's a lot of records to sell. Personally I think the Library of Congress should buy it.
|
Yeah, this shit should be archived somewhere. Not in some rich dude's basement.
|
Sadly, that might have to do for a while though.
|
Can we, the people, buy and preserve the collection, perhaps?
It's a cause I would join on Facebook. |
what's a vinal?

viral vinyl

viral vinyl what else... |
why would sonic youth like to get infected? even if it's by record administration?
|
Good question.
|
Ha. Vinyl. I never noticed that. Reminds me of NyQuil.
Anyway. I've now refined my idea into one of transcendental greatness. Here it is: Sonic Youth could record a video for a song off "The Eternal" in The Archives. Wouldn't that be beautiful? I can just see it in my minds eye. The profoundly epic mind blowing music (as it's been described) being performed in a profoundly historic location. What a dream. I do hope (in reality) somehow they read this and think it's a must do. As far as the library of congress, I wouldn't trust congress with my MP3 collection, no less THE Archive. ![]() |
