I can't believe...............

..................we've never had a thread about TYVEC!!!!

TYVEC!!

Have we gone mad or what?

Glice 02.21.2009 08:41 AM

Maureen Tucker-style drumming - a guaranteed win chéz Marras.

sarramkrop 02.21.2009 08:46 AM

Is this you making fun of Tyvec or what?

Careful.

Glice 02.21.2009 08:49 AM

It's a comment on the fact that you love that sort of drumming - you know, knife-in-the-back, play-like-a-railway style.

sarramkrop 02.21.2009 08:52 AM

You are quite right about that. My favourite styles of drumming are either super-simple, primitive playing, or super insane a la Corsano. I like other styles too, but those two are favourites.

Glice 02.21.2009 08:59 AM

I've been thinking lately that it almost doesn't matter what the rest of the band does, it's all about the rhythm section. Incidentally, I play drums Maureen Tucker-style, except more jazz.

sarramkrop 02.21.2009 09:08 AM

I tend to agree with that, in that rhythm sections can totally dictate when a song can suddenly turn to more interesting directions. Also, drums are generally the first thing I tend to hear in a song. With Tyvec I was won over the first time I heard 'Air Conditioner'. You can't ignore the fact that the drums are the greatest thing about that song. Unoriginal maybe, but certainly effective.

pokkeherrie 02.21.2009 09:43 AM

Yeah, Air Conditioner is my favourite song by them... but Tyvec? Tyvek? Tyvjk?

There's a European tour coming up with Cheveu pretty soon, should be good.

isn't it tyvek?

sarramkrop 02.21.2009 01:21 PM

It is indeed Tyvek, I always make that spelling mistake somehow. Which colour do you two prefer your hats to be?

pokkeherrie 02.21.2009 01:34 PM

Hah, when I read sarram's first post I figured Tyvec would just be another spelling they're using these days, like Tyvjk or TVK.

They're not allowed to call themselves Tyvek anymore, because it's a copyrighted name. It's mentioned in this interview:

I don't have any hats, but my favourite colour is green... dunno if that would make a good hat colour though.

GeneticKiss 02.21.2009 09:42 PM

Never heard of this group, but the one guy in that pic looks like he's vomiting white light...

And red it will be, then. Any preferences when it comes to the font I'll use for the writing?

Sonic Youth 37 02.22.2009 01:56 AM

Tyvek? I saw them with Vivian Girls when they came here. Solid stuff. Bought 2 of their "cds"...cd-rs with taped paper covering them.

Glice 02.22.2009 07:51 AM

Does anyone else see 'solid' as a bit of an insult?

sarramkrop 02.22.2009 08:06 AM

I don't get it when people describe a song as 'delicious'. It's as gay as a wedding cake.
