Two questions for everyone >:O
 

1.) You know how Thurston said the band is going to go on for a thousand albums. Assuming this is true and he wasn't just being Thurston, do you think the band would continue if one of them died? Would they still call themselves "Sonic Youth" or get a name change?

2.) Does Patty Orsini post here? What a cutie xD

1) He was just being Thurston, so it'd be silly to assume otherwise. I'm sure they'd break up if one of the original three died, and I'd have a hard time imagining them going on without Steve either at this point, but maybe if Bob Bert came back or something weird like that.

Patty Orsini made that long fan letter film for SY. And I don't think she posts here anymore. She was actually Cantankerous.

SY couldn't continue if Thurston, Kim, or Lee died. And I think they WOULDN'T continue when Steve dies. Luckily they're all going to live another 50 years or so... so it doesn't matter. Thurston is so active in the underground music scene, he has more passion and energy than most people half his age; I guess that goes without saying, but if you live like you're not an old man, usually you won't die like an old man (unless you have a bad disease). Look at Alexandro Jodorowsky. He's, what, almost 90? And he looks healthier than anybody, he's directing a new movie, and he said "My career has just begun."

1. I always figured that if any of the EVOL-->Infity lineup were to quit (or die in an extreme case) then that would be the end of SY by name.

Patty should be known by all those who know what SY is about - good times, and making things that make you feel better.

...I was kidding. I'm pretty sure EVERYONE knows I was kidding. I'm pretty sure "trolling attempt" and "being nonsensical so a few people will laugh" are two different things.

1 - I hope they carry on for as long as they can, but if something happens to any of them (god forbid!), they should remain together making music, the name is completely irrelevant, it's like Dave Grohl is still the drummer of Nirvana in many of us, they will always be Sonic Youth, and what matters in the end is the music.

2 - Why should you care? Stalking purposes? :P
