do you watch animation movies? or puppetry?
from yr vault of film knowledge, would you like to list all the good-uns of this type that you know of? |
atsonic is a vault of film and music knowledge, i don't know where he finds the time to record the music he does as well as watch and listen to the amount he does.

What kind of animated movies? Haha. I like some anime a lot. I love the works of Ralph Bakshi a lot, like Wizards, Heavy Traffic, and such. Allegro Non Troppo is cool. I'm not really familiar with many films that use puppety, aside from the works of Jan Švankmajer (Alice, Faust, etc.).

i'm not atsonicpark but maybe the brothers quay and the bolex brothers might be worth a look. as might this type of stuff http://www.darkstrider.net/gallery2a.html

Hell yes, many of Bozzetto's movies are amazing. I'm not atsonicpark (thank God ha ha) but you could check Peur[s] du Noir , it's really interesting imo. And Le Planete Sauvage, obviously. |

any kind really. Though more interested in anything non asian. Not that I dont like it, but I've not watched a lot of anything produced elsewhere. Thanks all, will look up yr suggestions. |
Ralph Bakshi is the grandfather of all GOOD animated movies imo. I've been a fan since Wizards was in the theaters (really dating myself here).
as far as puppets go...Frank Oz? like Dark Crystal kinda shit? I dunno. puppets are good for one thing: simulated sexual favors. |

well, I was kind of asking because I can't think of anything recent film wise where there is major puppetry going on. There is lots of live puppetry performance stuff. In my country like this; http://www.snuffpuppets.com/ ...and I've seen doco's of it in other countries too just.. I haven't seen any film work like this in recent time? CGI killed it? but it has so much to offer.. ima go get it on in a gelfling orgy now? |
I'm assuming team america: world police doesn't count? Haha. At least, I hope it doesn't count.
|
hahaha no.

Ladislas Starevitch and his stuffed animals.
The Tale of the Fox I'd recommand(I think I saw another one but can't recall the title). An excerpt here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcznvlBTQFk More about him here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ladislas_Starevich. |

Check out the French surrealistic science fiction animated film Fantastic Planet. A true work of art through and through. |

I don't like Robot Chicken. It occasionally has a clever part, but I don't like that kind of media-aware, present-day, celebrity- and 80's-referential humor, the kind Family Guy also usually specializes in. The "Hey! It's Skeletor busting through a window, wearing an ALF shirt, yelling 'SHOW ME THE MONEY'! HA HA HA HA HA HA!" I like timeless humor.
</atsonicpark moment> ANYWAY... |
family guy isn't funny because the jokes are totally interchangable and bear no relation to anything, anyone could write those type of jokes, in fact the stupider someone is the better they would be at writing jokes for family guy.
