You need to watch Johnny To's "The Mission", "Fulltime Killer", and "Running out of Time"... Ringo Lam's "full Contact" and "City on Fire"... and John Woo's "The Killer", "A Better Tomorrow", and "Hard Boiled". I like some other action films but those are all ESSENTIAL.

that said, go for directors: GEORGE A. ROMERO and JOHN CARPENTER should be in that list above (cool stuff otherwise atsonicpark)...

PRINCE OF DARKNESS, THEY LIVE, THE THING from JC, and the DEAD movies by GAR... must see flicks.

Yeah, I forgot Carpenter. For some reason I always do. Most of his movies are amazing.

But I gotta agree with derek. Watch every Takeshi Kitano film and you should be good.
