Melvins 25th Anniversary

They played a show in Seattle last night, and are doing another tonight. I had a ticket to go, but gave it away, and now I'm really regretting it. I'm not a huge Melvins fan, but I've seen them, and yes, they are amazing live. Plus, Green River is opening, and I really like them. I don't think I'll ever have another chance to see them. Has anyone that cares heard if they're doing anymore shows? I remember hearing about a reunion tour last year, but that was about all.

I think Green River shows are going to be an ongoing infrequent thing in the NW these days. They've been having a lot of fund doing it, so they'll probably keep at it.

I hope you're right... I feel foolish for not going, but I think I had good reasons.

They're doing a show in Portland (just Melvins, I think). Are you thinking of going?

Dead-Air 05.23.2009 01:52 PM

No, too broke. Sonic Youth will likely be my one show this summer I'm not playing in or putting on. Did you get my PM about that?

flophousefloozie 05.23.2009 02:14 PM

I did, I thought I wrote back...

By the way, I heard Greg Sage has a record store in Portland. Is this true?

I hadn't heard that, but it doesn't surprise me at all. Are Green River opening the Portland Melvins gig? I might reconsider then in a big way. I've known Steve Turner since the '80s when he used to go on about how much he hated his old band. He lives down here now, actually.

I actually saw Green River's last gig in Seattle in the '80s though nobody knew it was then. It was in a shoe store!

That's amazing, and funny about Steve Turner...

I don't think they're opening for the Melvins in Portland, but I'm not sure about that...

It's funny because he really meant it and stood by it well into the Mudhoney days, but the footage I've seen of Green River united he is obviously having a blast playing in their new three guitar pile-up.

I looked on the Green River my space and it only lists the two Seattle shows but then says "maybe one more", which definitely implies PDX. I can't afford the money and family-points enough for an implication though. Especially the family points. Wife and baby have both been very sick and probably won't be 100% better by tomorrow night. Sigh...

They age like wine. Maybe more like cheese.

More like Turtles!

I was just reading about leatherback turtles. Apparently the females age about 30 years in the ocean before they come back to shore to lay their eggs. And the males... never come back.

My boyfriend just called me for the second time during Green River. #%@!

mark...he was a little weird. nice, but weird. but then again some dude tried to pull him off the stage during their set.

I don't even know who the "nicest" person I've met backstage was... I think it was Les Claypool. He played a game of po-tay-toe, po-tah-toe with us, when my boyfriend tried to shake his hand. He's apparently germaphobic.?

I`m not a huge fan, either, but my boyfriend is. Actually, I really like the Brown Album, other than that, I appreciate Primus for being inarguably unique, and I`ll never stop laughing at Claypool`s One Better`( I think it`s called, can`t remember)
