I'm really all about this band right now. I have First LP, The Eagle & The Poodle, and the two 2 Foot Flame albums.
What should be my next purchase by them?
What else might I dig now I seem to constantly be in the mood for this band?

yes i like em, ive a copule of their old 7 inchers they put out on wiija around the time of the great rrrriot grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrl fad of 1993/4 . i like that cheap shit.. skinned teen, mecca normal, heavens to betsy, linus and the others i cant think of at the moment....

I like them. If you like that first album, Jarred Up would make sense next. I like Two Foot Flame a bit more, so if you're into them so much, check out Peter Jefferies solo stuff too. Closed Circuit is one of my very favorite unknown records ever. I think maybe some of the songs are about Jean too.

I saw them live and they were ... interesting. Beyond that, I have no idea.

The trouble with being on this here island in the middle of the sea is buying from these sites is never cheap for me, or particularly reliable. But thanks for the link though, nice site.

Mecca Normal. The love ‘em or hate ‘em (it seems) duo who have an amazingly long discography (I think like 11 or 12 albums and a handful of singles, plus all those compilation hits, a couple of solo albums and side projects (like 2 Foot Flame, which is Jean Smith with long time Mecca collaborator Peter Jefferies and Michael Morley of the Dead C). It’s somewhere between punk rock poetry and riotgrrrl rage, I think. A lot of what became that Northwest Scene owes a lot to this band, that began in 1985, as they migrated back and forth between Vancouver and The Olympia / Seattle scenes.

Then, outside of the music, there’s a whole bunch of art and words that swirls around these two. First off, David’s brother Ken was the manager for D.O.A in the 80’s, so David got to do a lot of designs and art for the band… Mecca Normal also got to borrow D.O.A.’s bus as well. Jean Smith’s first novel, “I Can Hear Me Fine” was published by David’s newly formed publishing company – Get To The Point. There’s also her books “The Ghost Of Understanding” and David’s book, “The Gruesome Acts Of Capitalism.”
