Sonic Youth Art Box?
 

I've just bought the last edition of Noise Magazine, a (great) french music magazine. There's a 4 pages interview with Thurston Moore in it, where he talks The Eternal, black metal, the Buy Early Get Now program, Matador, and, the two Record Store Day splits.
About the one with Beck, he says "Beck covered one of our tracks from Evol while we destroyed his "Pay No Mind" (laughs). By the way, Beck has totally re-recorded Evol, it will be part of a Sonic Youth Art Box which will be out in a few months, maybe in 2010."
Did they already talk about it? Have I missed something?

As a dude who goes on record all the time here saying that EVOL is the best album ever recorded by anyone ever, I can say that I welcome this. If it's real.

Of course! That album is the best.

Beck's cover of green light was wonderful, I'd love to hear him reinterpret the entire album, just think of what he'd do to expressway.

I hope thurston wasn't fucking with the magazine when he said this as he tends to do that at times.

I too hope this is real. Beck doing EVOL? If this were 1995, I would probably be more excited about this than I am now. Still, if they make, I will buy.

It would definitely yield some vaguely-similar-but-completely-weird results.

That was my thought exactly... Beck's gone a little "limp" in recent years, IMHO - though the "Green Light" cover was a definite high point of recent work... I would approach this with guarded excitement [smirk]
