DR Essential songs #6: The Supermen - David Bowie
David Bowie, The Supermen (1970)
![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUfXaF4g6lg The last song on 'Man Who Sold the World, I don't think The Supermen was ever a single but it's my favourite Bowie track. Rubbish lyrics, and the Barrett thing is a bit on the heavy side vocally, but its that riff, and those drums, and the way he sings "oooooooooooooouuut in the red sky" towards the end. Utterly bloomin' brilliant. |
Dammit. I thought this was about a song called "David Bowie" by a band called The Supermen. I always put artist first, then title, so this throws me off.

good song from a good album

I prefer the Bewlay Brothers as an album closer but this is good too

I always liked the semi-acoustic B-side version of it better. Great vocals.

As for Bowie's lyrics... this dude certainly has some interesting things to say about them. The whole thing is pretty crazy read as it deals with Bowie's alleged occult leanings.

Great song. I gotta admit I'm more into width of a circle and all the madmen though
