I love the Carpenters with a passion. I sing their songs to my son to get him to sleep. I hope they play "I Won't Last a Day Without You" and "Rainy Days and Mondays" at my funeral.

Skynrd like the Grateful Dead are one of those competent music acts that suffer greatly from being associated with their fanbase.

I don't think I've ever actually listened to the Carpenters. I really enjoy the first two Skynyrd albums though. (Heard the third's pretty good too but haven't gotten it)

Skynyrd can burn in the plane fuel fueled fires of hell for 10,000 years just for each time I've heard "Freebird!" shouted at a show that isn't remotely Skynyrd.

Carpenters are just eh. I don't like them or dislike them. They make me thing of oak paneled rooms and puke green shag carpet.

I used to be able to play the lead to "Freebird" on my violin.

I'd rather listen to the Carpenters than Lynyrd Skynrd.

But I wouldn't consider myself a fan.
