upcoming meteor shower
So, who's gonna hit that up? It's supposed to be tonight and tomorrow night. What're your plans? Where are you going to go to catch the action? If you get pix, post them in this thread.
I'll be going about a mile out of town (this is Wyoming, I don't have to go far to see every fucking star in the sky) and I will be with my camera. |
What time is this supposed to happen at? In real time, and by that I mean, not that goofy mountain timezone.
|
it's cloudy and raining...
|
They're mostly a letdown anyway.
|
don't listen to the cyrrillic bastard ;)
they will be all over but will look like they are coming from the North, and will be best from midnight to 5am eastern standard time try to usee a tree or a building to block out the moon if possible. best of luck! I wish I coudl but I am smack in the middle of the 4th largest city in the country |
Yeah, I think that's the problem for me too, Omaha gives off too much of its own glow.
|
omaha is very bright. I believe there are observatories close that had to shut down or cease as research sites.
|
ain't no meteor shower for us in Jersey, I'm afraid. :7(
|
I think the UNO campus uses a shut down observatory as some kind of performing space. I've never been to it, but I think there is one somewhere north of the city, in the 'haunted/albino village/woods/park'.
|
I'm not sure if I'll be able to see it in Montreal, but man those are entertaining to watch. They're so bright when you go to the cottage or a remote area and stargaze

You've obviously never seen a meteor shower in an unpolluted sky. |
ugh, the bay area is wayyyy to bright to see any stars.
if i was still in upstate ny, i would have an amazing view. |
i want to try and watch
|
There are no stars in Houston.... so the Meteor Shower will probably be mediocore to watch at best out here.
|
oh yeah, almost forgot bout this.
saw ton of these 2 years ago on my birthday in aus when i climbed mount warning. bong hits, shots of jack, then acid, and then we climbed the tallest peak in new south wales and saw a meteor shower, which we all thought was the acid. lolz |

terriblecanyons, shit like this is fukkin awesome. I wish I was able to view everything that happens in the skies. Except for plane crashes. |
I'm looking forward to THE BIG ONE. if only so that with my dying gasp I can whisper "I told you soooooo."
|
A meteor crashed not too far from my house when I lived in Northern Wyoming, back in 04 or something for that meteor shower. I saw it burning up with a plume of smoke behind it as it entered the atmosphere. It was fucked up.
Also, I saw the northern lights on two occasions here in WY. |
This stuff reminds me of The Hills Have Eyes.
|
I have work in teh morning. I put my alarm to 2 am....hopefully I can get up and get a nice view and smoke a bowl...oh yeah...then go back to bed......
