Dear Hunter vs. Deerhunter
 

The recently resurrected thread below reminded me that I only recently heard about both of these acts... but I have yet to listen to a lick of either of their music.

Should I bother with either? The fact that they're so similarly titled almost makes me want to boycott whoever came second. I've probably been asked about both in passing at different times, and always assumed I was being asked about one specific band.

Never heard of Dear Hunter. Just checked and I've read "Indie Rock" and saw their artworks and I think I will never check them out.

Deerhunter are cool. I really enjoy them. Cryptograms is really good, Heatherwood is a fantastic song. I like Microcastle / Weird Era Cont a bit less but it's still very good imo. Atlas Sound and Lotus Plaza (solo related projects) are also awesome

I think they (deerhunter) have their moments, but in my opinion, the REAL atlanta psych band who did some revolutionary shit and made some real good pop broke up last summer when the singer od'd.
