It's okay, you've read dune. there's really nothing else when it comes to literature, or any art, for that matter.

I've wanted to read that ever since I read his other one, city of quartz, or whatever it's called.

Only authors I've read a lot of stuff by is Ballard and everything by Burroughs. So, Atrocity Exhibition and Ticket that Exploded or Nova Express should be good.

I like a lot of bizarro literature, like Baby Jesus Butt Plug. Highly reccomend that one.

Also, a lesser known one, Personal Dept. by Dylan Sparrow (of Giggle the Ozone) is an amazing read.

gravity's rainbow
breakfast of champions
lolita
dracula
the varieties of scientific experience

gmku 09.23.2009 07:48 AM

Yes. ^ Why haven't you read Lolita, man. Also, Speak, Memory (by Nabokov)

Also didn't notice any Updike, another ecstatic writer of English prose. Try Rabbit, Run, The Centaur, or an early collection of short stories.

Rob Instigator 09.23.2009 10:19 AM

Haruki Murakami : Wild Sheep Chase, Dance Dance Dance, Wind Up Bird Chronicle, Kafka on The Beach

How is Dune as a read? I tried to get into when I was a kid (actually read the first serialization of it in the sci fi pulps) but found it really dense and dull.

demonrail666 09.23.2009 05:57 PM

i had the same experience. it was like the brothers karamazov ... with spice.
