Alvin Band (like Animal Collective, but not as annoying)
 

Someone linked me to this guy the other day, and I finally got around to listen to his new album Mantis Preying. I gotta say, this is my favorite album of the year (so far), even though I've only listened to it twice.

I am very impressed with this guy.

I like it. Im a big Brian Wilson fan and have never gotten into Animal Collective despite all the comparison. (misplaced if you ask me).

But this guy "gets it".

Yeah, this is more like if Brian Wilson had a sampler, speed and a delay pedal. So you guys dig this even if you don't dig Animal Collective? Allllriigght. That means my dad will like this.

Ok I listened to this again, wanting to show a friend a cool band I heard, and I hate it now...

wtf? It all sounds like disney music...It didnt sound like this before...I was sober too! haha

Hmmm...was there a different method of listening? I listened to it like 4 times and it kinda sounded different each time. It is pretty saccharine no matter how you slice it, kind of like Of Montreal or an old-timey barbershop quartet.
