these are much cheaper than the sy sigs and are supposedly pretty good, if you're thinking of looking for a cheap guitar this could be a sweet optioon

how could a guitar that cheap even be playable??? anyone have experience playing any of these?
|
I was going to say exactly that but I was going to use the word playabubble.

So the 40 model is a Jazzmaster, same wiring, same pickups, bridge, etc.
The 60 is a Jagmaster. The 90 is a Telecaster variation in a Jazz/Jag form. They look excellent, and are pretty much direct knock-offs, which make the price seem fantastic. I have a friend who played some of their Strat copies and said they were a great company. Problem is most of us have, we're too tempted to play before buying, which is hard for these guitars. Still, at around $200, that's pretty amazing. You could just save up and buy an actual Jazzmaster or Jaguar, but these are probably the best alternatives (Besides a Jagmaster possibly). Thanks for heads up! I'll post some more knock offs later. ~Jeremy~ |

I've played cheaper guitars that are playable. |
not I.

my $85 dollar sx bass(fender jazz copy) is pretty much the same as the actual $800 bass it copies,i've read about people who own both doing their albums with the sx because it sounds better. you gotta realise that most of the cost is manufacturer and retailer markup
a $200 guitar with a few bucks spent on rewiring and everything can be a killer |
a few months ago i had to sell 6 pedals, 2 amps, 2 gtrs, an electric violin and my 4 track just to fuckin eat. horrible times.
one of these tele knock offs looks interesting. id be embarrassed to own a tele that wasnt a knock off. like - "look at that guy, he paid the full price for something just for the name". i'd be embarrassed |

i think embarassing is a bit much, but it's close. personally, i'd be proud to get a knock off of a guitar $700 more and then use the money i'd saved to turn the knock off into a complete dream. |
Cool. I could make my own Jazzblaster.

Here's some more knock-offs. These though are a little rarer (Out of print) and more expensive... But the more the better, right?

Hey, I got a fucking amazing tele on ebay for only 200 dollars. I don't care about the name, but it just fell into my hands. I fucking love guitar knockoffs. In the 60s all these Japanese companies were making Jazzmaster copies, some of which are even weirder than the Jazzmaster (see this linkhttp://kingofkays.com/japan.aspx that Jeremy posted) |

some of those look pretty tastey i have to say! |
Yeah, it's just a matter of how uncommon they pop up. :(

I play a jagmaster which I got for $150. Love that fucking guitar.

There's part of me that wants to get some rondomusic and xaviere guitars, because I've always sort of wanted a jazzmaster, among some other models. . .
but: 1. There are so many cool vintage guitars out there 2. I already have seven electrics, and two of them I barely play although I don't have a baritone or a 12 string, and I've been thinking I could get a couple of those xavieres and convert them with necks from warmoth.com Or maybe get an Agile Argus Baritone, and then also get an SX SJM and put a 12 string neck on it. |
damn. i was going to wait until the summer when i have a job to get a new electric (i was thinking of getting a gibson sg standard or a jazzmaster), but a lot of the guitars posted here look wonderful and well within my budget. are these guitars really that good? 'cos i'd like to get something like the jt40 and put my money toward other equipment if that's the case.

Which year is it? Reissue or a Vista? I have one and I agree, it's an amazing guitar, well worth the price (Or at least before Fender raised everything). Quote:
Unfortunately I've never played one, but from my searching around they apparently are excellent. Many also think the Jay Turser Surfmaster is pretty wonderful. Buy one and let us know how it is. ;) ~Jeremy~ |
