bands you probably havent heard...

in los angeles there is a band with members from a band called the lack, a band that thurston moore has spoken highly of. Although this is quite a bit different, you can see some of the intelligence and fore-sight that is being put into this music

check them out here, and let me know what you think... also would love to hear other amazing things out there so post away...

They're decent.

I would once again refer my honourable friends to The Duke Spirit

Also, Freuchte des Zorns, discovered via this forum (thanks to A Thousand Threads) only recently.

A Thousand Threads 03.28.2006 04:25 AM

Thanks Hip Priest. You, like always, are one to give out the best info on ewhere to get good music. I will definetly check these out.

duke spirit is a pretty solid cross of slater kinney and the clinic... not shabby but also not breaking any boundaries. Although i have to admit i have only heard the four mp3s offered on their site, still open for more.

I have no idea when it comes to music other people have or haven't heard of. I'm really really bad at gauging how well-known things are.

I tend to assume that if I know about it, it's common knowledge. Everyone else probably knows about it too. (Or should, at least.) I'm often wrong.

One thing I enjoyed listening to lately was one of our forum members, charlie's band. So I'l give you the link:

!@#%$! 04.13.2006 12:55 PM

The Big 'O'
p. xii
Witching Hour
Sheila in Cognito
Finer points in life
Bitcher

These bands are incredible. Like Hyperkinetic Noise Folk deconstructionists in the form of serialism. But, I doubt anyone here's really into his stuff. It might be a bit too complex for some of you. These bands are all incredible, especially Bitcher. What's great about these bands is that they're doing something new, never done before exactly. Trends come & go, like the stoner rock phase just a couple years ago, right now prog is the "new flavor" as is psychedelic noise folk, but these bands on the earthworm label are really trying to do something new and creative.
