thanks blunderbuss, i'll be watching.

In its own little way, Derek Bailey being a specialist subject on Mastermind seems like a counter-cultural event for my 40s on a par with what Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure being on the same episode of Top of the Pops was in my teens.

I'm surprised Stew's not doing the Fall for his specialist subject. Fair play regardless.

i just wish that i didn't find stewart lee such an insufferably smug so and so.

that does surprise me too. i would like to see mark e smith on mastermind, imagine that! i think stewart lee just went up a few points.

He's capable of being exceptionally sharp at times, but he does fall back into smug nonsense too easily. The Dan Brown monologues and the north/ south gags in his recent show were a bit easy, I felt, but when he's on it he's one of my favourite comedians. Also, he's the thinking man's comedian advocate of the Fall (take that, Skinner).

Charlie Brooker can continue to fuck off though.

yeah Stew won! he sure knows his Derek Bailey alright but his general knowledge could do better.
